Tire Inserts

No, not permatubes...

 

Lately there have been a couple of options for tire inserts, all claiming different benefits like protecting rims from dents and preventing burping of tubeless tires. They are expensive at the moment, but prices should come down. Is anybody here running any of these and would you if the price was better?

I would only go for the procore cause it won't absorb (ALL) the sealent.

 

 

And I won't go for procore because its heavy AF.

 

Just get proper rims and know your pressures.

 

 

I believe many people will buy systems like this and never actually get the benefit. Lets say you ride A modern 29er with 120mm suspension and lets say 27mm internal rims with decent tyres (2.3/2.2) you have quite A lot of initial (large tyre profile) and after(oodels of suspension) squish to protect the rims.

 

 

And if you ride into A side walk at 40km/h , check yourself !

the new wide mtb rims and new tyre tech negate/replace the need for these things

I think it will but will be better than huck norris ( those things chow sealent and become very very heavy)

It's closed cell foam, so I don't think it will.

 

I think products like these are meant for rougher conditions like Enduro and downhill, but could have benefits for other conditions as well.

Went through their site and if it really doesn't absorb the sealent I will definitely consider it.

If I can make my 2.4's feel like 3.2's without having to worry about my rims I'd say its A pretty good investment.

 

 

Would really like to test ride A bike with this system tho.

Not sure if there is another thread for CSixx Foamo's but...

So yesterday I managed to put a nice ding on my rim through the last rock garden of die kloof @ conties. Now luckily the rim is not a write-off and the tire still sits/seals relatively fine. 

Don't think I am not going to increase my tire pressure as I already run 30psi in the rear.
So thinking of getting the above foamo's for the rear.

Any experience with them on the hub here? Should I go for the 10 or 20mm. Any advice/ideas welcome.

I've had my eyes on and it's been my choice just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I've destroyed 2 rear rims running csixx foamo. I weigh 70kg all in, my bike is about 16.5kgs and my pressure is about 25psi in the rear.

 

As an interim I've bought the double decker foamo and running 30-32psi.

Just buy tyres with stronger casings. Lower weight, same result.

I don’t know much about tires but I’m going to run these Front Tire: Maxxis DHF 3C/EXO/TR 27.5x2.5

Rear Tire: Maxxis Aggressor EXO/TR 27.5x2.5

on Spank Oozy rims. I’ve got a Agressor on a Spank Subrosa rim that sometimes burps. Thats the only reason I’m looking at these things.

I would only try those green vittoria tyre inserts. Not only do they protect the rim/tyre but can get you home as a run flat option.

Had foamo which worked fine. Trying heavier casings for now. If I hulksmash a rim too soon to my liking I'll go back to inserts.
