Bad service CWC

I must say, had similar experience at the Green point store, not at the willowbridge store or online.

Similar experience when the wife and I popped in. She was in a shopping mood and they could've sold her pretty much anything. Had to go look for someone to help us.

HaHaHaHa...

You THINK you conned the missus.....while you were drooling over the socks, she slipped the manager a note

"If anyone serves my hubby YOU ALL DIE!!!!!"

 post of the day

Not a problem if you have a baseline set of skills... But for beginners? Nonononononono

Long stems - only for roadies and professionals.

Narrow handlebars - only good for roadies or those "city bikes"

I knew I would be able to lure you out of the woodwork with that one!

Personally, I've only had good experiences with them. But then I'm the sort of person who goes into a store and actually looks for what I want, and tell the salesperson that I'm just looking, thanks.

I think the sales staff may have been in a perpetual loop of Help the customer / no he's only browsing / help the customer / he's only browsing / help the customer / he's gonna tell me to fkoff which caused a feedback loop resulting in him pacing to and from the sales desk.

It's not uncommon. Generally have to kick them out of it by shouting "HEY! You. Can you help me, I'm looking for XYZ" which, I've found, forces a reboot and gets them back into default setting, before a "greet the customer / run for cover" loop resumes all over again.

I worked in one of the CWC stores a good many years ago, and I can tell you that this is not the way the sales staff are meant to operate. The example is carried from the top (Snr . Jnr) and down to the managers, to the sales staff, to the security guard at the door, to the person sweeping the floor. Client is king and is to be treated as such.

OP, Sorry you had this experience.

1) Or you just have to learn how to unclip.

2) Disagree, you need to add tall people who can not quite fit on a XL frame

3) OK I Agree, cos im tall

No input on the shop issue.

It was the Greenpoint one that I went into.

Agree with you.

Their Tygervalley store is AMAZING!!!!!

Web. Only ever had good to great service

The greenpoint store feels very uninspired.

I do like the coffee spot next door.

I had a very similar experience. When I did get help, I felt like I was being looked down upon, like I was too inexperienced to be there. When we left, even hubby made a comment about the attitude :(

I hate that 'you are not worthy in a real bike store as you look like a noob' attitude. I have experienced that at some local LBS's, excluding the majority of the technicians at Linden, they are very welcoming for conversations (even if you are a noob).

As a Joburger I think of CWC as a Massmart (Game, Builders etc) online store. Know what you want, do your research somewhere else, and then pull the trigger on a low price with CWC. Some of the prices on CWC are unbeatable, and some are beatable. Use that to your advantage.

CT is a silly place anyway. People ACTUALLY work in JHB. Go to a bike shop there. #idon'thaveitalicfontonmyphonesorryctdoesnotreaalysuck
