Road wheelset options

Hi guys. I currently have the following options of wheels available:

1. Brand new campag scirocco 35 wheels.

2. Used campag scirocco (not 35mm).

3. Used ksyrium sl wheelset (lightest of options).

 

Please comment on pros and cons and some buyers advice?

Post pics of SL's. Which year are they also? What groupset are you running? The Mavic's are great wheels and spares easily availbale. The Scirrocos are bombproof wheels as long as you not going to pair them with Shimano ( personal preference).

I am waiting for pics of the mavics 2013 model... I have a campy groupset on my bike, so I like the idea of the scirocco 35's

I had the Sciroccos.  35

Very good wheelset.  Solid. 

But heavy.

You won't notice the "aero" thing that much so if the difference in price is big, go for the older one.

I think the new 35 one has the thicker spokes (Like the Euros wheels)

 

Mavic are awesome hoops.  Just the hub is not always so lekker.

 

Quick question....Mavic are bringing back the Open Pro wheelset.  Looks very pretty

I like those OpenPro's.

Got a set in 1997, laced with DT. 3cross build. Bombproof.

Do you need new wheels or just upgrading ? Becuase 5k doesnt really get you anything great .

Rather save more and get a better set of wheels.

For 5k, look at some secondhand amaerican classic 420 aero. There was a set in the classifieds a litte while ago.

Mine looks the same, and while I did not get to properly test them at the Argus, they are very nice.

Just work on your thumb strength to be able to get tyres on/off - it took me a whole evening and lots of swearing, since you are not supposed to use tyre levers...
