SilverRider Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 A commuter was hit by a car while on his way to town outside Potch on Tuesday afternoon, 28 March . The accident happened about 3km outside of town on the Viljoenskroon/Skandinawië-drift road. The cyclist didn't survive the impact with a Tata double cab. The driver of the vehicle stopped immediately at the scene as well as local members of the Potchefstroom Fire Protection Association (PFPA). The PFPA alerted the emergency services and police.It is again a very unfortunate event - a family lost a breadwinner and father. The deceased was a gardener on one of the Wilgeboom small holdings.

Sorry to say I was thinking the same thing, that a light point was the fact that the driver had the decency to actually stop

He waited the 45min it took the police to arrive to take down statements. The PFPA members on the scene had their hands full to make sure that the evidence (bike parts lying around) didn't get compromised and the witnesses stayed put.
