Women being "helped" along by a male competitor

Are you really confused, or just being facetious? ;)

This rule is there to cover the situation where let's say a rider in VA is dropped fromthe main group. This rider then latches onto the VB break as they come past, he then drafts his way back the VA group. That's an unfair individual drafting advantage.

Slow Monday for me, because I didn't see anything about different bunches or categories or whatever it's called.

Slow Monday - so I have to ask....what was your decision on your 1st date vs P-R 'dilemma' ?

What really annoys me is when some woman comes roaring past me, spraying gravel and dirt in her wake, showing no consideration for how I might be suffering or my ego which just has to absorb the defeat. No helping hand - no offer of assistance....

From the CSA Rules :-

"22.07 Drafting

22.07.001 Drafting by or between riders of the opposite gender is not permitted i.e. A male rider cannot allow a female rider to draft him during the race or via versa of obtain an unfair advantage over other competitors of the same gender.

22.07.002 Drafting in bunches is accepted cycling practice but drafting only to gain an individual advantage is unsporting and is

not acceptable."

I have been trying to get ONE book or something with all the rules, do you perhaps know of something like that? And where did you quote the above from? Thanks

Yes thanks!

I have found that, but in which link would I find those two drafting rules quoted by PeterF? I actually want to learn more about the rules.

This is impossible to police... I'm talking mtbiking especially...

Is it only an offence when it's a friend / partner?!

Let's say a woman is alone out in front and the second woman comes back to her while drafting men (and none of them are her partner / friends)... surely an unfair advantage but pretty standard practice during a mtbike race.

My wife and I raced Cradle Challenge (Saturday only) together as Sani2c prep... was this unfair... I suppose it was but how else can we simulate a race environment?! She bruised a lot of egos :)

As we did a section of tar I saw a woman grabbing the pocket of her friend / partner... now that is something I don't agree with...

Agreed.

To add to this, if said lady needs help and has nice bum to push on.... you push!!

I'd be very careful if I were you.  Your lady reads the hub and I'm sure you still sleeping on the couch after your "pay as you go" comment. :D  You really shooting yourself in the foot here.......

Just to clarify, the rules I quoted pertain to mtb xcm races only.

Yes ... trouble is I'm a bit of an old dog, too grey to go haring off after any old hare. I just hound the sweeper - dogged determination is my strategy.

I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this... so I get a team event - pushing up hills etc is perfectly acceptable. However, what is the protocol on an event for individual women and men. The amount of women I see being "helped" up a hill or on a drag by a male competitor is quite prevalent. The women is therefore given a substantial advantage in her own race... Should this be allowed/ policed more etc? Hard to prove unless you witness this but it seems to be ignored more than not.

Am I guilty then?    We are normally in the middle / back of the race and when we hit a hill I would put my hand on her lower back just to share some watts with her, or just ride in front of her most of the times (especially when heading into the wind)

My thoughts were that for podium it is not allowed, but for fun ride at the back, no harm
