In my case I started in the race batch that I took over, but did not advise the orgs of the change and using my own chip i received my results, showing that there is no link between the person who entered the race and the race results.

Hmm now all of a sudden the emperors race sounds like a bargain...............

Ok so that's interesting that there is no link. I wonder how many people have been riding rogue? and for how long?

This is very interesting, and concerning at the same time.

A happy middle ground for me would be to allow number collection for pre-entries on Race Day, that is all I ask.

Late entries is a different story, but then again, those entries would start with the latest batches and thus you can accomodate for that even on raceday by having a quantity and time cutoff for raceday entries.

But Raceday number collections would satisfy the needs of 99.9% of amateur cyclists.

Yup, which is why I state most races have number collection on race day, exclusion been Lic riders but that is not my fight, they are the minority and the lic guys need to beg, plead and threaten their own case

I have seen a few entries for the Emperors going on some of the whattapps groups, sometimes you are lucky and the person is giving their number away.  I see no issue with this as the race has been paid for, as for identification in case of an accident I carry ID with me on person and in my saddlebag.

I think on-person ID and medical information is way more important than having it on-file somewhere in the system.

Yeah agreed. But I wonder how many guys stand in a chute and say "i've entered" but haven't. Do the race and get an official time.

ICE ID on your helmet strap. Medics will probably look around your face/head and remove your helmet first if you out cold.

Surly you won't get an official time without an entry. I don't think they are that useless.

Scotty says he has succesfully done that in the past:

There is no link between race number and race time. I can use the number of someone who cant do the race number anymore and without going the substitution route, race and get a race rime.

Been there, done that.
