Will do a couple more rides in the warmth of the cradle this weekend and next weekend and a few short runs. Resigned myself to the fact it’s going to hurt. Makes the beer taste better at Barneys. IceCreamMan Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 So, after being denied onto the flight we were booked on we had to reschedule at great expense to ourselves....sitting at heathrow waiting to get on flight, so instead of cycling in the cradle today and tomorrow I will be on planes and airports....and to make matters worse, I now have flu again..not ideal but the show must go on.

amr63 Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 I realize drafting in non-drafting events is a contentious issue, but the rules being what they are (12m in IM events) still allow some benefit to the following rider according to research by Swiss Side: https://www.swissside.com/blogs/news/the-deal-with-drafting. Just make very sure you know what 12m looks like ????

KLM allowed me to check in online which is not normally allowable if birth certificate is required. Additionally we traveling on EU/ UK passports. We got to airport an no go. Spent 2 nights in London an had to book new flights. Will try an claim from insurance or KLM. Bike cost 200 euros to take with. Another lil surprise cost. Damn expensive this tri business

For us age groupers plodding along they less strict. Generally st IM I see very lil drafting (within the 12 metres) an I guess it becomes theoretical so long as you not obviously drafting the refs will give u a warning first. Fellow competitors will also give you the evil eye if you patently drafting. Def no bunches like 70.3 events. Because I now swim train at a local sports center where swim lanes are at a premium you are always sharing lanes with 3 to 5 other ppl aN the advantage of swimming behind someone is huge. Drafting in the swim is permissible at IM an there is an advantage to be had there. On the run too esp if there is wind around. Just that protection from the elements helps, again legal.

I think Matt Trautman has a score to settle I'm a big Cameron Wurf fan but being a South African I wouldn't mind seeing Kyle Buckingham, James Cunnama or Matt Trautman on the podium. I think Lucy Charles will do it for the woman.
Chris_ Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 In the nicest way possible, I hope Ben Hoffman doesn't do well... It shouldn't be possible to do one of the worlds toughest mountain bike races - and do very well I think, and then on to Ironman. He is a world class athlete so I may well be proven wrong. I think the ladies will be tight at the top, but Pallant is such a beautiful runner I'd pick her. If Wurf can pull out a big run he should cruise it, otherwise I'm a big Trautman fan, hope he nails it.
