Hi guys,

A friend is a tall bloke and weights in around 100Kg, He keeps breaking spokes or they come loose.

He is looking at getting a new set of wheels, and is looking for some sound advice. He has Hope Pro 2Evo hubs and is wondering to just get rims, or a whole new wheel that has more spokes..? what rims/wheels do you recommend..?

Your advice and experience would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I'm a 100kg plus and ride Enduro, DH trails

Have got Hope Pro 4 hubs, double butted spokes, brass nipples and ZTR Flow MK3 rims......

Have had no issues at all with that combo

It's a 29r too :whistling:

if he's already got the hubs, all he needs are the hops and spokes.

I'd steer him towards a set of Flow mk3's and some spokes & brass nipples from Rapide.

He needs to get the right length spokes, so use a spoke length calculator http://www.prowheelbuilder.com/spokelengthcalculator (this one you just selct the options from a drop down box, Flow mk3 is there as is hope pro 2) and order from Wayne.

Then get his local wheel builder to build them up for him.

aiyeeee. For a clydesdale, those are NOT good. He's 14kg over the max intended weight for the wheelset.

A Clydesdale  I have just spoke to him, he is super happy with all the great advice.

Thanks so much guys

You've got to go Boost though. Non-boost is a complete waste of time and money.

If his frame/fork can't accept Boost sizing, he'll just have to buy a new bike.
