I'm guessing it's a bargaining chip but you never know. CR has a habit of being right more often than not and I'm guessing Froome is wanting to go full gas for Le Tour after this year leaving Sky with a new puzzle. Defending champ vs sole focused 4 x winner? Both will want the team behind them and it's a very different equation than this year for Sir Dave B to juggle. Maybe Geraint has unfinished business at the Giro and is chilled about the Tour for 2019.

I understand their predicament this year, with the whole issue of where Froome would be allowed to race. However, I am guessing that Froome would target the Tour solely next year under a lesser cloud of controversy in order to get himself onto the same step as the rest of the 5 winners. That would take a blanket statement from the team that Froome is their man and no one will take 2 mountain top finishes ahead of him next year. If GT isn't happy with that, and he wants to defend then I can see why he would want to move.

Let's hope he doesn't fall into the same trap of many others when they leave Sky and fall into obscurity. . .

I would be surprised if GT leaves Sky.

They have enough of a squad to have the best team at both Giro and Tour.

I don't think Froome will try the double again in 2019, he wants TdF #5.

I would guess giving GT Giro and Vuelta and Froome TdF is quite a likely outcome. GT had a great Tour, but all the chips did fall in his favour for once. He might be happy to leave it at that, and not take the decision that he has to defend his title just because.

All depends on the route announcements I guess, but the other option is that they do it like this year. Froome was #1, but they switched somewhere along the way when he was no longer the best option. Not many teams can accomodate the ego checking required for this to work, but ultimately it gives you the best option of winning the race for the team.

Damaino Caruso to Bahrain ..confirmed

At this rate the current CCC pro conti team will just step up as is.. mass exodus from the current BMC team.

They may have a new title sponsor in CCC for next year but a lot of riders are leaving BMC, they are going to have a problem with riders to support G so I don't see him taking up the offer.

Except this last race it worked out well with 'sutt legs' Chris but in future having two top dawgs vying to the top of the podium will be an issue.

For sure.. but he can't go to a team who are losing riders and not bringing in quality to replace them.

They would have to sign an additional 3 quality support riders if they are to lure G to them.
