Came up on both weekends from KZN to do the 55 MTB & 94.7 & loved them both. Started at the back in both events & had so much fun. Great support out on the route yesterday & will definitely be back next year with a few mates to do it again. Well done to the organisers!!

I must apologize for the pace up Summit & R55 as I was a contributor    needed to start the second lap by 8:50 as one of our group need to drive back to Duban before sundown.

No need to apologise, I would have been fine with it if I hadn't pulled the ITB at the beginning of October, and if you've ever done that you'll know what a b**** that is to get rid of.

It seems the Hub invesigators are on the prowl.

We know this much:

Started in R: Thus 7:34 start

Jetline Action photo spots her at NM bridge at 12:23

Finish line then calculated at: 7h34 +9h11 = 16h45?

Can someone fill in the rest? Sounds like an epic story waiting to be told...

hahaha we should get bets in before the truth comes out! R20 on tequila stand and a nap!

I started in VE yesterday.  Sole aim was a PB after a year of hard training. A personal issue arose last week and I thought a PB was still on the table.

My data shows otherwise.

Got dropped approaching Woodmead, and about three or for of us worked most of the M1 alone, until the rest of the bunch caught us.

I did learn one thing yesterday.  Even with all the training, I enjoyed the ride more participating in the group, than hanging on for dear life.

The PB never happened, and just over 10 min slower than last year, but still had a jol.

Another point, I have never ridden in such a jittery Vets race before.  The first 20km was worse than most local A batch races.  Riders must have been really tense.

Rule of the road keep left pass ride.

I agree with you but when everyone was moving in a group up the hill at almost the same pace, everyone just stuck to their current line, you don't want to be moving around cause that is going to cause people to crash!!!

I last rode the 94 back in 2014, eleven of them was enough for me but I love reading the feedback after each one. Well done to all for finishing, whether it was in 2:30 or 7:00.

Rule of the road keep left pass ride.

Small rant: Riding much on my own or in small bunch on the M1 (in left lane), we still got passed on the left despite there being 3 empty lanes of highway to the right.

Please don’t label all second lappers as a problem.

Not at all what I was insinuating but merely a kind request to all second lappers. If the shoe fits...and from what I saw yesterday the shoe should (sadly) fit quite a few feet.

Second lappers should in my opinion give way to the people still on their first lap.

The Germiston Wheeler dudes are however some of the most considerate riders I have ever encountered so no doubt that the shoes doesn’t fit on them. Shame, they have never really had their Cinderella moment.

Spot on. If you are capable of riding a second lap then you will know the calibre of rider you will pass on your second lap. Bear that in mind and be nice, dont be a ****. Help those that cant. Simple really

They suffer A LOT more than those doing it twice.

What's up with the Racetec timing in VB!

Surely in this day and age results / timing should be done at the finish line and not 50-100m before.

E.g. I beat Jono Cloete by a handful of seconds and he's listed 8th and I'm 11th... what a joke!

End of RANT ;)

I can actually explain this.

Remember your time only starts when yout chip crosses the line and finishes again when it crosses.

Now I started Macsteel right at the back of the bunch. So the guys in front of the bunch had already been cycling for 20-30 seconds by the time I crossed the line. In the sprint for the finish I was third across the Line. But because I started at the back in reality my cycling time was actually slightly less than the guy who was just ahead of me so I was placed second in the results for the batch.

You aren't being placed on who crosses the line first. But based on who has the shortest ride time. So of he started way back in the bunch while you were near the front. That means his actual ride time would be a bit lower than yours if you were close together at the line.

No complaints, had an awesome day out, seemed tougher than last year somehow, that must be in my head of course.

2016 did 3:51 from HH, 2017 did 3:46 from K

Both rides solo, no bunch stuff.

Told my missus that in order to do better times I need to upgrade my bike,

Wondering if she will buy that nonsense, worth a try! He he.

get a decent aero bike. We don't have heaps of climbing in SA so a lightweight bike I reckon would be lost in SA. But aero. A Reacto or Transonic or Venge or Fo1l. Save watts while going fast. What could go wrong? And they don't climb too bad either. :P

Agreed.

Why people want to do a second lap beats me anyway. Why not do it 3 times?4?

If you need to get some long kays under the belt ride to Zeerust and back

To help people?....they don't need help...they are meant to finish under their own steam.

Go for it.....

First one for time, and second with dad. Or brother/sister/other half/charity, whatever...

Did no 21 this year and as usual it was a good one only gripe I had was the new starting chutes It was a real slep to access the orange chute if you have to go over that  bridge Otherwise these people know what they are doing . Started in L and finished in 3:51
