First a hypothesis is put forward. That is like a temporary assumption. The hypothesis is then exhaustively tested and peer reviewed. The longer is stands up to objective scrutiny the closer it gets to becoming provisionally accepted fact. The tone of forum discussions are also quite sober and generally intolerant to any form of dicking around.
