Event Name: 100 Cycle Challenge
When: 6 May 2018
Where: Germiston Lake, Gauteng
Category: Road

The 100 Cycle Challenge is a new road race on the cycling calendar presented every year on the first Sunday in May in the City of Ekurhuleni, Gauteng Province.

It is open for both professionals and amateurs – anyone over the age of 15 who loves cycling should enter!

We are partnering with Cycling South Africa in their capacity as technical specialists. Together, we are also driving transformation and development of the sport at grassroots level. R50.00 per entry into the 100 Cycle Challenge will go towards funding Race The Future, a Cycling South Africa initiative aimed at getting young kids and teenagers active, engaged, enthused, off the street and onto bicycle seats.

Lucky Draw

South Africa’s brand new 100 Cycle Challenge, in conjunction with Jacaranda FM, offers one person the chance to win R100 000 cash!

All you have to do is enter the race before 31 October 2017 at 100cyclechallenge.co.za - your early bird entry automatically qualifies you for the lucky draw!

More or less the same roads as carnival, R4S, Fast One and Emperors. Couldn't they got a slightly different route?

Was wondering the same thing…

I do see they indicate water points by numbers if you click on it. So must be anti clockwise

Worried about the section at Hassie Park in Benoni but on fb they said today that all will be sorted. See also that we are riding on the R21 highway from the Silo's? Caterpillar building to the next offramp of R23. Sometimes the road at Clearwater estate is also filled with potholes but currently all filled up (until the next rains). Will also see how Lower Boksburg road will treat us

My experience on this route would be this,

1. Pretoria Rd through Benoni is very busy, and as you come out towards Bapsfontien the road conditions are very bad for a car / Motorcycle, so I can imagine a cyclist it would be hell.

High road from R21 all the way down to Impala park is a single lane road and is very busy even on a Sunday, and I would not be prepared to take any chance on that road.

Atlas Road is full of Taxis and they go down that road at a rate of knots.

I think I will be giving this one a miss, and to those that take part, good luck and hope your Med Aid and Life Insurance is up to date.
