It is taking a lot longer to go through the submissions and whittle them down to a winner than we anticipated - sorry guys and girls. If you weren't all so keen, we wouldn't have this problem, of course.Thank you, all!

Working towards the end of next week...

Thanks for the patience.

Happy to read this!  I've been checking your FB page obsessively to see an announcement - glad that it hasn't happened yet.

There's still a chance!!

OK, so how are things Munga related going.

I have lost a few kilograms (4 actually) , mainly through changing when I eat, rather than what I eat. This has helped with the back problems a lot. Combined with back exercises, stretching and core work (which are going to have to be lifetime changes if I want to be able to walk my daughter down the isle one day), things are going well.

We have been training for S2C and have been spending up to 5 hrs on the bike and so far so good. Still slight pain on the seat bones, but nothing as serious as before. After s2c I will look into possibly changing cycling shorts. I currently use craft, but have a pair of specialized cold weather ones. And these are really comfy, I had no pain at all riding with these.

Overall, things are looking good. Am excited for sani as it will be a good indicator of how well I am going to fair come the real munga training time.

oh yes, I may look to change from my titus 26er to a 29er. Getting parts for the titus is becoming an issue.

So Trans Afrika 2017 has been cancelled. So I'm considering do the Munga instead.

An issue for me though is I have very little MTB experience, and I've never done a MTB race. Can anyone recommended some MTB races in the Gauteng area that would have similar riding conditions to the Munga, that I can use to judge my ability to do the Munga?
