Crazy cyclist?

I have been following this for a few weeks already and I agree with everything you say except these two points.

I don't care how many tattoos people have, as you say it is mostly irrelevant except in this case getting a ghoulish tattoo done after you have (accidentally or not) killed someone, is just a **** move and speaks to his attitude that the Judge already commented on.

He had no remorse and actually went on the attack before people got him to STFU about the situation. Bitching publicly about the scratches on your bike when someone is in a coma is not smart.

Second, it is not the trial by media he should be worried about, but the sentencing by the trial judge who has already said that he won't be buying the remorse story.

Showing how callous you are to the damage you have caused will come back to bite you.

ps.

I have some understanding of the situation as I too have hit and killed a pedestrian, albeit whilst riding a motorbike. It is not something one should ever use to show how cool you are.

I doubt he got the tattoo to commemorate the accident. Getting a tattoo after that is of no consequence, unless you have some inside info to prove otherwise.

The guy does seem to be a twat, but the truth is that it was a freak accident, where both parties had some degree of blame. The accused clearly doesn't show remorse, as he probably feels there was little to no fault on his part.

She walked out in front of him, I dont think if he had deadly disc brakes it would have made any difference.

Really unlucky.

Sorry Savage I disagree... if he had time to shout at her twice he would have has time to pull the breaks and possibly even stop...

Headline - Killer cyclist... sensationalist or what! Sounds like Jack the Ripper riding around on a fixie slitting pedestrians throats.

Apart from the kid looking like a smug little twat, it seems like a freak accident... the bike was going 20 odd km an hour - hardly earth shattering. Far more dangerous Stravasoles racing around the botanical gardens in among kids and dogs. A collision like this the cyclist normally comes off worse. Seriously must have just been very unlucky.

Accidents happen, I can only feel terrible for the family.

Hi in law parlance it's called "fragile skull" if that guy had ridden into me I would probably have just brushed it off, maybe a scrape or bruise or so. The victim could have been very petite and fallen awkwardly and sustained the head trauma she passed from.

Ag, please. You can shout twice in 2 seconds.

have you guys commenting on the fixie ever ridden one .......... I did for a couple of rides and would certainly never do so in public areas without a brake on the front and back of the bike....you just can't trust pedestrians.

my worst commuting falls have been thanks to pedestrians running into the road.

You can also backpedal your fixie and avoid the accident...

Fixies are easy to lock up of you're prepped to fling your weight forward and your pedals are in the 9/3 position - if you're surprised and your pedals are 12/6 then beace yourself - you're going down!

One could argue he does not have to feel "guilty", degree of guilt, etc ....

"Remorse" is a totally different concept.  Even if 100% innocent, one could (and should) feel remorse at the death of another person

Imo it's an accident, both parties are in the wrong.

Like most accidents it involves a sequence of events, who started the sequence of events.....

Another IF in the argument, IF she had stopped and looked before stepping into the road she could have prevented the accident. Even if it was a pedestrian crossing she is obligated to check it's clear to proceed. Not many pedestrians do this as they think they have right of way, period....

I passed a guy walking on the road a few weeks ago, now this was not in town and in between 2 villages....there was no pavement and he was walking with the traffic (not into it) with his head phones on and looking at his phone... as I went passed (on my bike) I said "are you mad". I turned around to look if he heard me and he sommer shows me the finger LOL

Point is pedestrians think they are protected game

Personally, I suspect that the court probably has the best perspective on what happened, definitely better than all of us who are dependent on the snippets that we read or hear from the media, who in turn cannot report every word or exhibit from the case.

For sure, however what else can we skinner about?

Actually I was watching her husband on the news last night and I said to my OH.... it's quite flipping simple NEVER MIND what the law says.... if you are silly enough to step into a road without checking for oncoming traffic then..... we'll sadly the rest is history.

rationally I agree with you ....

but if it is YOUR family that gets killed, you grasp at any straw to blame to other party ....
