The turning circle of one those would appear to be like an SR-71 at full chat. You'd start turning in Wynberg and hit Newlands still at a 30 degree angle.

Not if you lean at the same time, like the Harley's have to do.  

I've ridden these kinds of box in the front bikes before and they're really not that bad.

They're extremely popular in cycle-centric cities like Amsterdam, SF, Beijing etc. Nate in the netherlands reckons they're a dime a dozen.

Why do you need a walk assist, you got a motor, if its that steep your e-bike cannot get up it, you probably should not be going up there...

I get the appeal of an e mtb doing more trails than you could otherwise or e bike with kid seat to take junior on a ride but e road bike those been around for ages made by the likes of yamaha, Honda, Harley Davidson, Ducati, suzuki etc.
