Have a look at the new wattbike,redesigned,resistance settings on handlebars, and it seems that is also part of the smart trainer clan now. Saw pricing of £1499 excl postage, but as soon as it is available in SA,i'm sure it will not sell for under R70-R80k.

The challenge at VA will be calibration, same as the current model.

 Nobody seems to know how to calibrate Watt Bikes properly at VA.

So..... import duty on a bicycle is 15%, what's the import duty on one of these?

 

Edit: Correct me if I'm wrong, but this would fall under 9506.91 -  Articles and equipment for general physical exercise, gymnastics or athletics - No Duty.

Nevermind import duty - it weighs over 40kgs and the box is huge. Shipping alone will probably double the price in SA.

Same thoughts here- £1499 then this a really nice machine. Then you can run a indoor pain cave a save your normal bike.

 

Considering the current wattbikes are for sale at around R50k (which is more than the new model price just converted)

Well the wattbike pro is 2250 GBP vs the 1499 for the Atom. So that means it should be in the R33k region

Have the same issue with wattbikes at VA BUT Wattbike says that their bikes are factory calibrated and do not need to be corrected thereafter. So would seem I push 10-15% more power in Randburg vs Bellairs. Guess the air is thinner at the latter????

Setting the Zero State of the Monitor Whilst the Wattbike is factory calibrated there is a function to Set zero from the Wattbike Performance Computer. This can be used to ensure that the Wattbike has been returned to zero prior to testing. Select Setup from the Main menu, then Memory and simultaneously press all four buttons. Rotate the pedals backwards for a few revolutions to unload the Wattbike. The cranks should be unladened and in a horizontal position Press ENTER – the monitor will automatically Set Zero.
