the fastest run at Kona was 2:39:53 by a guy called Luis Felipe Rodrigues, he did that after an 8:32 bike leg..

8 hours!! what was he doing out there?

The second fastest run (only by 6 seconds) was by Patrick Lange.. after a 4:28 bike!

These top Ironman athletes really are the absolute pinnacle of fitness and endurance. It blows my mind.

Think there must be some funnies in the results as fastest run time was 2.19 by Jetze Plat. Thats a whole 20 mins quicker than Lange

Totally agree, Wish i could run a sub 3 marathon or sub 4:30 180km bike  or even a sun 50min swim as a stand alone event. Its amazing to see these guys and gals perform.

Give up your day job... you might then get close ;)

Ryf and Lange were at the finish till late (probably till the end) congratulating the finishers coming in.  Very very awesome of them.

Saw some photos, and she looked like she was bombed out. Very, very impressed that they took time out to support their fellow athletes. Always love to see such great sportsmanship in this sport.

I already can't wait for next year, if this was Cunnama's building-it-back-up year, just imagine..

Matt Trautman might be back next year as well, both of them coached by Brett Sutton‏.

I saw Matt this weekend at 11 Global, I almost passed out when he crushed both races. It seems not the other day he was relearning to walk. What a guy, what a recovery.

I've laughed whenever I've read anything about Suttons training styles/camps. He sounds like the devil, but damn he must know what he's doing.

There is a couple of 02h40 runners and sub 8 hour finishers in the group.  Gone are the days of winning this race by big margins.  A single drafting penalty can cost you the race.  Heck a flat tyre that gets replaced immediately can cost you the race.  I can push you from the front of the field back to 30th.  I think the think what also sets Kona apart is the wind and heat.

Saw the highlights. what do you have to do to get a drafting penalty, race on a tandem?
