With all the crashing yesterday, no reporting coming in of slice-and-dice because of disc brakes...?

There was some mumblings that sharp breaking thanks to discs was causing crashes

1. Don’t think a sprinter is too amped to be flying to the alps to ride with an injured knee.

More than often the GT GC riders are the real ponies methinks. The Grand Tours favour the climbers/TT guys. So 2 tricks.

Nibali, Valverde, Sagan, Allaphilipe, are more towards the real all rounder.

Depends on how you define all rounder. If we go with who is best at classics AND stage racing then the order would be something like this I reckon:

Nibs and Valverde.

Alaphillippe.

Froome, Sagan

That said it would be interesting to see how good Sagan could be if he lost 15kg and stage raced. Likewise Froome gaining 15kg and classics racing. No doubt both have amazing engines!

No footage anywhere, apparently connected with a spectator.

Saw some footage..was pretty wide road..looked like normal pileup.Thing was probably because everybody was nervous and lots of fighting for position. Was mid pack also I think.

Hard to believe Porte is out again!! In my opinion we are missing out on a great battle..Porte versus Froome is what I want to see..the rest is just a side show.

You forgot the biggest trick of them all..climbing, TTing and then stringing together 21 stages without time loss.21 perfectly executed days of racing without the luxury of having one bad day...

Before they probably complained about the lack of sharp braking causing the crashes. . .

To be fair there is a case to be made for "two speed" braking... I saw a lot of on bike footage where riders rode into the back of others riders - this has been happening for years of course but having discs and calipers in one peleton is only going to exacerbate that problem.

Its 'easy' for specialists at the tour, the day its your specialty, buckle up its hairy. For the GC riders every stage is hairy. JD could empty himself today as he knew he doesnt need to climb on Tuesday, same with the Sagans of the world. The GC guys need to be in the zone all the time for all stages.

That reminds me - Froome is the best runner of the lot. No doubt!

Cycling really is about 30 yrs behind when it comes to business. Bet you the top earning sports clubs can't even remember when last they earned that little.

Earnings since the start of the TDF

Views on Skuijin's back wheel? Difficult one to explain...

It's been covered already but this is what happens when you crash:

You get up.

You check your chain is on.

If not you lift the back wheel with your one hand whilst turning the crank with your other hand. This causes the back wheel to spin - fast if you're in the big ring.

That is all you're seeing.

As another poster said (Patch I think) - if it is a motor then it's a crap motor because the bike doesn't shoot forward when he puts it down.
