GB leaves Luxembourg with a Le Tour de France puncture.

Large gallery of pics.

After Geraint Thomas’s victory of the TdF, Great Britain has more victories than Luxembourg.

After the TdF 2018, Great Britain has six victories in the bag, all of them after 2012, when Bradley Wiggins won the famous cycling race.

In 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 Chris Froome was the winner and this year it’s Geraint Thomas.

Luxembourg’s first victory was in 1909, when François Faber won the race as one of the first cyclists to take the prized yellow jersey who was not French.

Nicolas Frantz was the winner in1927 and 1928, followed by Charly Gaul in 1958. The last victory for Luxembourg was in 2010 with Andy Schleck.

With 6 victories, Great Britain is in 5thplace behind Italy (10), Spain (12), Belgium (18) and France (36). Luxembourg is now 6th, followed by the USA (3), the Netherlands and Switzerland (2 each) and Germany, Australia, Denmark and Ireland (1).

Lance Armstrong (USA) has been stripped of the 7 titles he won between 1999 and 2005 but they have not been allocated to any other cyclist. Floyd Landis, who won the TdF in 2006, had to relinquish his title in favour of Oscar Pereiro.

During WWI and WWII, the TdF could not take place.

Thus there was a break from 1915 to 1918 and again from 1940 to 1946.

I reckon teams need to get smaller. The drop to 8 made very little difference to Skys domination.

5 or 6 rider teams will up the excitement at the tour! Not sure it will happen though cos that'll mean unemployment for a bunch of riders. Or more smaller teams in the Pro Tour - that might work...

They will most probably go that way..along with salary caps.Problem with just cutting riders is then they just pay the 6 much more and they have even stronger riders and then gap remains.

What irritate me to the extreme is that people use their budget as an indicator of why they dominating and people always focus on the team that is dominating and want to bring them down to the rest.

No one is saying why the F#$k is a top team like Movistar allowing a top rider like Landa to get FAT!!!!Or why the hell are they still stuck in the middle ages...Movistar has always been the team that paid top money for their riders and have a very big budget. They are packed with potencial but they dont convert???

As a side note...much respect for how Lotto appoached the race.Proof of what can be done with 2 or 3 strong climbers and the right tactics and mindset!!

THe UCI president must be the dimmest person ever...

His plan, pay the worst paid sportsman in the world less, make some of them unemployed and put the sport back 100 years.

Why not remove team cars, only 2 bottles a stage, no dinner, no cleats, 4 gears.

Ffs.

How about the UCI put on some big boy pants and get the TV rights for the biggest cycling event paid to the actual riders of said cycling event. They could then level the pay gap that way...

So so retarded

Whether it’s this prez or that prez, what the hell is going on with the UCI as an organisation or system.

They are intended to serve such a beautiful sport. Instead it is in-fighting, personal agendas and lots of noise.

What would be cool - a consistent standard in budget for teams, enhancing the anti-doping house, further boost women’s racing that is helluva exciting and working further on ways to attract more sponsorship into the sport.

Yeah and when I said previously that Lappies has a vendetta I was laughed at.

Thats his, "how do i get a frog to win the TDF' look.

When the other teams think they will beat sky with their current tactics :stupid:

#PANACHEISSTUPIDITY

just saying... they should rather categorically state beforehand that they will not be contesting GC.

Also known as human error ????????‍♂️

And / or power plays

It’s just politics and how countries are governed I guess

Yes it can be simple if there’s maturity and real human collaboration and servant leadership (rare superpowers this past century)

Its a joke that Ice Hockey can get this business model right but cycling cant.

The world champs in Ice Hockey in the top tiers TV income for -  Elite men, U20Men, Elite Ladies, U20 Ladies, Div 1 A and B Men. Pays for all the other world champs around the world.

Elite men Div 2&3, U20 Div 1,2&3, Ladies Div 1,2,3, Ladies and Men U18, Div 1,2,3.

Its around 350 000 swiss Francs per tournament and in each division there are 2 separate pools and tournaments. They also pay each team to come and compete in the world champs.

He can make as many changes as he wants to, try to handicap the opposition, try to give a leg-up to French teams or riders, impose financial penalties on wealthy teams . . . It still won't create a French winner if there isn't one. But it could damage the sport badly in the meantime.

Handicapping those who are successful has never made the unsuccessful successful.
