It's like trying to fit a 650b tyre onto a non-compatible frame.

Or in simple analogy: trying to shove a marshmallow into a keyhole.

Ain't gonna fit.... :cursing:

With a decent amount of lubricantion it'll fit

I was going to suggest making a 'braze on' mount that bolts on using the bottle cage.... Kin Crispy just smashed that idea with a purpose built hose clamp.......

Bro, let the laaitie ride 23mm tires.

This stress isn't worth it

I have the same Supersix frame (previous shape) and running 25mm GP4000.

The problem is you not running wider rims. So the wider tyre "balloon" out too much. I use mine with wider rims. With my compact crank I can even fit a 28mm tyre at the back (as the clamp is set lower to fit the smaller 50 ring. ( The lower the clamp, the bigger the clearance get).

Was joking about the 1x...

It looks like a high clamp derailleur.  Maybe try a low clamp one.

Ya, sort of took it that way. Which is why my reply with regards to the UCI was as it was. Sort of tongue in cheek and also having a dig at them.

I am just going to put that 23 Gatorskin back on the rear wheel. Not worth fretting over. The laaitie is already skimping about a new Pinarello frame anyway. In his dreams.  ^_^

This is probably it!

Yes, these are Easton EA50 rims, and are due for replacement. Just waiting for that December bonus, then I will get a new set of rims for the laaitie.

The compact crank though is not an option right now. He has that expensive Cannondale carbon crank on (came with the frame, which I bought second hand here on the Hub). Just don't have the money right now for a similar quality compact crank.

If your son is racing licenced, race officials will perform a "roll-in" test (at provincials and SA's) to make sure that the gearing conforms to age restriction roll-in limits. A larger tyre increases the roll-in length, and thereby a gear advantage. This could be a bigger problem (dq, or find a smaller tyre in a hurry) than a larger tyre. Worth checking before you spend more money. Oh, and pump the tyres properly before doing the test...

Yes, he has a domestic racing licence. But has not yet competed in any of the provincial or national road events, only MTB events.

The tyres are pumped at 8 Bar at the moment.

Larger tyres do affect roll out, but I very much doubt that a 25mm vs a 23mm is going to make much difference.

I had the exact same issue on my Solis frame. Filed the clamp down till it did not rub anymore, smoothed the filed area over with sandpaper and gave it a lick of gloss black paint, and Bob's your uncle.

I obviously took the derailer off before I spraypainted it.  :whistling:

Just remember that if its that tight up front already, when you stand up a hill, the wheel will flex and touch the frame as well. My Dogma 2 cannot use 25mm tyres because of this issue.
