I just hope they keep the last few corners coming back into the stadium free from loose sand... that is normally a whipe-out hot spot zone!

Looking forward to some hard racing once again

My hope is they fix the merge just past Carnival with the cones. Okes fell HARD in 2017 from AL. Total chaos.

Geez now that you mention it, I remember that... couple of near falls in our bunch as well. Even the road marshals didn't have a clue on which side of the road we are actually meant to be on... chaos

I think the whole printing of numbers to try and save on expenses proved not to have worked well last year, given the fact that the queues were out the door waiting for numbers to print.

I hope this weather clears. Going to be some serious potholes after all this rain. Lets hope they take a page out of the carnival city race and fix them.

Looks like the weather will be good for sunday.

A word of caution for those that don't ride down the R554 often, specifically when approaching the left turn onto the Old Vereeniging Road. Just before the robots at the BP, the road has some ridges caused by the trucks that frequent the area. The line along the arrows in the attached photos shows the ridges. It's not only on this line, but also on the inside of the truck's rear wheels.

In single or two abreast it's fine, but in a bunch it can cause a few problems, especially when the pace is high 30's, or low 40's (Km/h).

There is a second caution point just before the bend going into the corner. A rather big hole that was filled but still big enough to cause a few buckles (car) wheels. This one is just off centre of the centre line - but as responsible riders, we don't cross the white line, neh?

Thanks Gerald. That intersection has always been dodge even with good road conditions. It's a fast corner and then as you would know in the racing groups they put the pressure on out of the corner up the drag so guys take chances going in to lose as little speed as possible.

Thanks Frosty - do you know what kilometer of the race this happens at?
