This blew my mind. It makes 60s gangster movies seem a little tame.

What has gone down between you and someone else that they hide behind a bush with a chainsaw and try to cut your legs off?

In my opinion this is an isolated and horrible incident. Rather personal! Damn.

please share the details

Henri has replied saying he'll pass the message onto Mhlengi's athletic sponsor. As soon as I hear any more details I'll post it on here. I told them about this thread so hopefully they'll post on here.

This is mental.. Absolutely mental... Like I don't even know what to say... Like if I saw this in a movie I'd be thinking it's some type of sangoma business going on or someone really wants to end his career for some reason..

I really hope these ones are caught and the victim makes a miraculous full recovery and beats whatever the reason is for this attack!!

listening to a friend of his on 702 now. Good news is the doctors will be able to save his leg and he will be able to walk / run again - much rehab required - but at least FWIW there's that.

Murder happens all countries. But like many things it’s not binary.

The frequency and severity of violent crimes in SA is far higher than say the UK.

Yeah sure you get cold, but I would rather ride in cold weather than have my legs chopped off.

I would much rather risk my legs getting chopped off than being too afraid to take my kids outside because they might get killed by a crazy driving his truck on the pavement.

So from a Durban whatsapp group it sounds like the attackers where from his past and knew him. Sounds like spite. :(

At least they know who it was then.

After numerous incidents and close calls in SA myself I would take my chances with the truck thank you.

What SA's murder rate, vs the UKs terrorist death rate?

Irrelevant really. Terrorists target the general public to spead fear. But debating for 7 pages wont change jack, I presume your bags are packed.

Your argument is so old and stale. *Yawns dramatically*

I've said it a thousand times before on this forum. You have a better chance of bedding ScarJo than you have of being killed in a terrorist attack in Europe, but hey, if that argument makes you feel better about your situation, have at it.

Very personal indeed.

Statistically you are better off with the truck scenario than the crime scenario in ZA. That’s the rational approach. And if you outside the main cities the risk already minute is even smaller.

Crime in ZA is out of control and I predict will get worse due to policies of the ANC which breed poverty and illiteracy.

But each to his own, we all adults and we all have to make decisions which best suit our circumstances, one thing is for very very sure, I will not be held up with a gun while on a 5am run here.

Data is always relevant if used and interpreted correctly.

My bags being packed has no bearing on this data.

The data however has a very real bearing on my bags being packed.

My opinion is formed on fact, and I am very happy to change my opinion based on the presentation of new facts. I however suspect that no matter what data is presented you will not change your opinion.
