Is it just me or are there now about 15+ different combinations of waterbottle and water bottle tops these days?

they used to be universal, and things were fine. now i have a whole bunch that don't quite match.

Surely there could be a cool initiative by a bikeshop/race/club whatever where you can bring your mismatched ones and swap out what have you for a complete bottle?

or is it just me?!

Can we do this for socks as well? My washing machine has a tendency to eat only one of a pair, leaving the other to languish at the bottom of my sock draw for eternity in hope that it's mate returns

At R50-R100 a bottle, the petrol to the bikeskop is going to cost you more.  ;)

Bottles don't last long.  They grow goggas within a year.

Rather just buy two new ones.

R10 if you go to CW and aren't too fussy about color.

I don't think I have ever paid for a bottle. Got so many from race packs. Use them till the don't look/smell so lekker anymore and then chuck or find something to use it for. The last one I modified the lid slightly and stuck my light battery inside the bottle. I made the hole in the rubber part just the right size for the connector and now all I need to do is plug the light side of the cable into the top of the bottle. This is for my commuter and it works hundreds.

I don't like throwing stuff away that can still be used.

mine last way longer than a year!

The thing I hate most about bottles is that after the first ride they are scuffed and look crap ...

Have the exact same issue, was wondering if swapping out my plastic cages for carbon ones would resolve the problem.

Every time a single sock goes missing, it comes back as an odd tupperware lid.
