That's cages, pedals, spare tube, spare chain, and a bunch of other goodies in the swat box too. I think her bike comes to just over 10kg out the box.

 

EDIT: And she has a full sized dropper on the bike with that weight. On the later stages of the Epic she ran a rigid carbon post which shaves off even more weight.

If I had R 85 k I would go to Bike Market in Sandton Johannesburg and buy 2 decent bikes.

 

One to ride on Saturday and get dirty and one to ride on Sunday and get dirty.

 

Then during week wash both and ready to go again.

 

Seriously if you need a decent 2nd hand bike with good specs these guys are the best deal around.

Would very much depend on the build but it is possible if you aren't going for carbon wheels, cockpit, etc.

All things that be upgraded over time if you really need it........

A Santa Cruz cwc has some nice frame specials for around R30k leaving you with about 50k to take it to the next level!

Ja I would struggle to do a below par build on that frame. I speak as someone who has bought one. Still waiting to receive delivery.

It does look like an amazing bike, would love a Calling myself as I prefer the longer travel.

 

Loving my Insurgent but it is a lot of bike for some of the flatter, longer rides. Not that I am complaining 1 bit!!! Was more than the budget for the OP though......
