Poor design thread

A place to vent your frustrations when dealing with designs that fall way below your expectations - even if they are "top of the range" expensive products.

Just swapped brake sides for a customer on Sram Force Hydraulic brakes.  ALL the bolts on the shifter are self tapping type - the reservoir cover, side cover and even the bolt holding the banjo in place.  That plus the fact that you have to replace the gear cables as well make it a laborious job.  Not to mention my dislike for working with and bleeding DOT brakes.

While I am knocking Sram how about the thin walled aluminium crank bolt that has to be tightened to 50nm?  Keep a few in stock!

3 Bolt Chain rings,

The bearing races on the old American Classic hubs - Bearing man does not stock the size, only from American Classic at the price close to a new hub...

Not having a barrel adjuster on the SRAM rear derailleur

Not bikes...... But....Woolworths tills...the card machine is on the left.. So you unload your groceries.. Move across to the other side to pack them.. Then have to move back to the other side to pay by card... Then back to the right side to pick up your groceries and leave

That's a brilliant Salinger quote.

When the first Bimbos franchises opened in Jo'burg, they copied an American model with the drive-thu's designed for left hand drive cars.

Those Cannondales that have half of the fork missing

Any form of press fit bb's

27.2mm seatpost diameters (why!?)

Hex keys smaller than 3mm - my multi-tool would be so much smaller if everything was 4mm or 8mm!

You should be asking why we have seat post diameters which are not 27.2mm, seeing as that was the original standard for steel frames

This darn button on all VW radios!!!! Because every time you turn the volume up or down the button doesn't look up any longer.

DRIVES ME NUTS!!!

For that reason I only use the controls on the steering wheel.

Frames with internal cable routing but without dedicated internal channels/tubes, makes it next impossible to stop cables rattling inside the frame.
