Holy fuckballs the pseudoscience bull**** on this thread is next level.

No doubt .... there are many different theories for different diseases. And pharmaceutical companies are happy to keep on selling statins to help us treat the symptoms of cholesterol ... but sometimes we have to question what might be another solution ... or what might be the cause. :)

Tested our water in stellenbosch few times .. 0 chlorine. It only gets treated with chlorine if its out of quality is out of bounds and that not very often. I think they do most treatment with UV now.?

You say your diet stayed the same, but training doubled? how you keeping body weight up?

Even if they treat with UV or ozone etc. they still add chlorine as it’s advantage over the others is that the residual level in the water keeps working, so if the water gets contaminated by a dead rat in the water tower you won’t die.

Just how much pool water are you drinking?

:)

It is not just from swallowing the water but also by breathing in the chlorine .... the chlorine vapor is at the surface of the water where you do your breathing whilst swimming ... :)

Oh, and no they're not. Do you KNOW how LUCRATIVE a cure for high BP would be!? Or Cholestorol? Heart attacks? Cancer?!

FFS this "big pharma" BS needs to be thrown in the trash.

Yes, there are dodgy business practices with kickbacks in the US med industry for prescribing certain drugs over others, but don't you for one second think that that is stopping "big pharma" from trying to perfect curative medicine.

BTW - fixed for you. Those "theories" relate to the behaviour and treatment of certain diseases. ALL these things you've hitherto mentioned are hypotheses. IE ground-based theories with little to no evidence of efficacy. In order to be theories, they need to be far more well researched, documented and peer reviewed.

Oh - and a book is not a scientific paper.

I'm not accusing the pharma companies. I'm saying sometimes we should think for ourselves and attempt to look for the cause rather than pick a medication of the shelf.

That is not how science actually works

This hokus-pokus theory that has been shown to have no merit is reproduced and hung onto by people desperate for an explanation.

Even after the fraud underpinning it was exposed, millions of children had their health threatened by the anti-vaccination lobby.

Or just get to a professional, and trust the 10 plus years of training in a specific field of knowledge over a 10 minute google search.

"thinking for ourselves" is how things like the anti vacc and turmeric movement start. THOSE people should be shot.

Google is not the same as "thinking for yourself"

Neither are known for absolute accuracy...

I apologize if I offended you in any way. I did in fact contact UCT, and the relevant department in this behalf already.

2006 I was in the pool 5 days a week for 6 months, still went to the gym a couple of days a week for more than a year after that .... NO ill effects on my health.  This in a gym where you breath in all those fumes .....

LOL. Dude, if it's one thing you learn here, I offend very, very difficultly.

BTW - do not apologise on the off chance that something you say may have offended someone. You'll never get anywhere / complete anything for fear of having done so....

Re contacting UCT tho - great. I wish more people did that, instead of trusting hacks like Dr Oz / Mercola / Natural News...

Bit of a long shot, but any ways;

when you make cheese from pasteurised milk, you need add an enzyme called Lipase. This enzyme essentially breaks down fat (or something like that) which is partly needed for the cheese making process.

You get Lipase in a powder form and always need to dissolve it in chlorine free water (or distilled water) before adding to the milk - not sure why, but could it be that chlorine kills the enzyme?

So where I'm going with this; perhaps the uber clean pool water you are drinking gallons of it seems, with loads of chlorine, is breaking down / killing your Lipase enzymes to the point where your body's fat managing/absorbing system is no longer working properly i.e. your cholesterol goes up (?)

Some more pseudoscience :)

Chlorine is microbicidal. You need active bacteria cultures like lactobacillus and propionibacterium for cheese production. Same goes for other fermented products.

However, the mechanism of how chlorine works can deactivate enzymes.
