Cippo Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Launch internationally in Sept. Lot of people going to be torn between Core and Kikr4. Same features but Core $300 (R4000) cheaper. CWC selling Kikr 4 now for 17k. Kikr4 said to be the least noisy close to silent of all trainers.

Once comes with a cassette and the other doesn't? please enlighten me kickr 2018 with cassette and adjustable legs/stand and has a convenient carry handle. Core comes without cassette and base is not adjustable. check out DR Rainmaker or GP Lama on youtube for decent insights
HdB Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Cheaper less adjustable frame, lighter flywheel, and can't give quite as much resistance (though I think a 16% climb is more than enough).Plus doesn't come with the cassette, as you mentioned. But the Kickr Core has pretty much the same weight flywheel as the previous generation Kickr if I'm not mistaken, and uses the same quiet belt as the latest Kickr 2018.

Needless to say, music pumps very loudly in my ears.

Looking at getting myself rather than an Elite Direto (due to the lack of stock anywhere) and the reviews online look great as well. Will be a bit more expensive but at least I see the shops have stock of it.

Will be a bit more expensive but at least I see the shops have stock of it. I can't comment on the Core, only he Kickr4/2018, and apart from the adjustable height, it's the same. And simply put, when it's working (I've had the 'issue'), it's amazing... tootle along @250W and it's silent apart from the drivetrain noise. Push up to 600W (this is very short for me) and... the noise does NOT increase, not even from the drivetrain (ERG mode). Noise levels seem dependent on how well tuned my drivetrain is - clean is quiet. Dirty is noisier, and messier It really is plug and play simplicity, though I expect other trainers at this level to be similar in this regard.
aiyaaz Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 If it is similar (nearly identical) to the Kickr4, buy it. It is super quiet and as mentioned above, the simplicity of just plugging in and hopping on is great.
