I am testing the Aramex global shopper currently.

Ordered a 0.5kg package from an American website on Wednesday 31 October, it should arrive in New York by Monday, 5 Novermber. This costs R60 shipping.

From there Aramex will courier it, process the customs duties themselves and deliver it to my door for R200, plus duties if they are due.

I am curious to see how quickly they can do the NY->Pta link given the measly R200 delivery fee....

Will keep you guys posted.

Disclaimer, delivery fees are heavily dependent on weight, so don't for a moment think you will ship vehicle coil spring cheaply.

Feedback:

Ordered 31 Okt 2018

Delivered to New York via US Postal Service: 6 Nov

Arrived in Jhb: 9 Nov

Finally out of customs: 26 November  :cursing:

I hoped this Aramex route would make the customs process quicker but it is still frustratingly slow.

Now awaiting the final hop from Jhb to Pta.

How long did it float in customs? Mine went in on the 25th.

9th of Nov till 26 Nov, so 17 days. Are all your invoices, ID numbers, proofs of payment reflecting your details attached to the parcel? All of that admin to get them to accept my documents was what took so long. This is because Customs take a week to respond to any document you send through.

It is as if they deliberately want to frustrate you so that you are less likely to bring things in,

I'm still waiting for some batteries from Belguim that were sent in June

Batteries? Are you sure those won't be confiscated before reaching overseas shipping?

As for others mentioning late notices, I also got an sms 2 weeks ago saying "final notice". I got there and told them this is the first notice, they just said "haibo"

if they are Lithium they probably will---" Hazmat's"(hazardous materials) . You usually pay alot more for shipping on Hazmats since they need either to be shipped in fire proof containers or via sea lol. they won't just casually load them in a cargo plane contained in a cardboard box. If you've ever poked a Lipo with a sharp object and marvelled at the violence it becomes pretty obvious why you wouldnt want that in the cargo bay of a plane bing manhandled like some of the packages do.

Question.... Is EMS shipping worth it or will it still get stuck in JHB for weeks/months? Dis EMS expedite the process at all?
