Was a great race, but I could not stay awake. Super fast times, wonder what Frodeno could have done.

For the first time in my life I fall asleep in front of my PC last night, then I was going to carry on watching in bed on my iPad.... but realized it was pointless to fight the sleep demon

Awesome race with a new course record and it was on a bike fitted with rim brakes   :whistling:

Watching all the top athletes I was wondering why they even bother with disks for a race like this..... sponsors I guess

Sadly the saffa boys lost a bit of ground on the leaders. Both delivering solid performances it must be said but the field is getting faster.

Ryf is a machine, Charles in the water a revelation. The water was very mild , I think I have had worse conditions in Germies lake before.

Te commentators mentioned that about Ryf, also why she took long in T1, she was having a look at it better...

I hope someone at the finish line knew how to do the Heimlich maneuver, certain Canadian needed it...

Just saw on Facebook, PE girl, Michelle Enslin won her age category.50-54

Time of 10:12

She also won AG at 70.3 in PE world champs the other day.

1. Lionel Sanders although he might have overtrained lately

2. Seb Kienle

3. Patrick Lange

1. Daniela Ryf

2. Lucy Charles

3. Susie Cheetham

Well my predictions was wrong but this is my view point not that its any different from most.

  1. Lionel is a dumbass for overtraining and needs to get a coach. When Gomez, Alister, Frondo are all racing Lange next season he won't be there if he doesn't.
  2. Pitty Seb had to pull out
  3. Hat's off to Patrick he was amazing. Truly happy he broke 8. Next season is going to be ridiculous if he and the names mentioned above are all fit and racing each other. can't wait.

Women

  1. Angry Bird was mesmerizing. overcoming the jellyfish and then smashing her own record. She wanted to finish 30min behind the male winner as the women normally finish 45min behind and if Patrick wasn't having the day he had she would have succeeded. nevertheless 34min was something miraculous. How anyone is going to beat her i don't know.
  2. Poor Lucy, Swim record , Best bike ride of her life and yet still not enough. She did everything right. Broke the previous course record yet Ryf is just not normal. She was talking before the race of taking a break from Full Ironman distance and going to the shorter distances. Not sure how this result will swing her decision.
  3. No idea what happened to Sussie.

All in all a wonderful race, perfect conditions with the "predicted" rain staying away and i envy the people that were there to see the race unfold.

Also had to drag the race over two days, luckily the weather was so *** we were very happy to kick back the whole weekend.

Ryf - we really are watching one of the all time greats here. She's unbelievable. Lucy will have her time on the top step but for now, theres only one winner.

Carfrae - this woman had a frikken baby one year ago. Its not right that she finished 5th in the world! blows my mind.

Also at the end of the day triathlon really is a running race, and my word Lange is a classy runner. easy easy day. what a guy, and that proposal at the end was the best!

Really happy for Cam Wurf to hang on for top 10, he really deserved it.

Lastly, I'm sure we were all watching the same coverage from various sources, but ironman really needs more cameras. watching the same 6 or so people the entire race was a poor showing.

Lastly lastly, and I've even heard it from someone who raced there this weekend, and we caught glimpses of it every now and then on the far side of the road, the drafting was at laugh out loud levels. Apparently it was like riding the 94.7 with all the pelotons. Another poor race management effort. I'm sure its difficult to manage, but there must be more that can be done than what we saw.

Awesome racing and unbelievable results. Unfortunately results like Ryf’s will make the “doping” questions rear its ugly head again; her bike splits were simply out of this world. She outpaced most of the pro men during the latter stages of the cycle leg! And then to top it off, a sub 3 marathon.

You know you're a real boss when shes timing and setting goals for herself off the leading men.

Lets not forget to mourn for all the Spez athletes, for having to sit on that monstrosity for hours...

I noticed Lucy Charles had the water tank lid flapping in the wind for most of the ride.
