As long as they stay ideas you should be fine.

Just a note - I won't be asking you along for a ride just in case.

Don't worry, will drop you in a couple of meters thanks to my lightweight bike

Removed outer housing of my shifter cable. Didn't need it, scored more grams

Stop being a pansy a$$ and go singlespeed.you don't need a shifter, cables, derailleur or cassette.

That will require me to train. Who the hell trains for an event?

Hi Partydave

You remind me of years ago when I still did speed sailing. I had an asymmetrical board, basically the one half of the board was cut away to save weight. The thing was a rocket, but only in one direction. It was totally impossible to sail the other way. Also, it could only go really fast over a 500 m downwind course, which was all it had to do. Specialist tool!

How about a smaller front wheel? Since you are only going to climb steep mountains, a little 20 inch front wheel could be great. Learn from the track and time trial guys from the 70s. I bet you can ditch half a kilo that way.

What the hell is that bag near the stem for? Plasters? Sounds like that's all you gonna need.

I keep a little book in there of all my friends moms numbers

Can I suggest using a really strong laxative a few weeks before this race (I can send you my last prescription label, Dr said 1 three times daily, completely different medicine but I don't want you to forget how many you should take)? You'll be spending lots of time on the toilet so no excuses for not updating us. That would bring down your weight but you'd probably be weak as sh*t but it's all about the weight saving right?

According to the o.p. he is on a strict diet of testoboost, pretty sure being physically weak won't have any effect. Not sure about his mental wellbeing though......

So getting serious for a minute, I got some time to do some actual work on the Scale last night.

Rear wheel (Crest) was super wobbly, to the point of the tyre rubbing on the frame. True'd with my newly arrived nipple twisting thingy and she runs without touching the frame. Far from perfect, but it'll do for now.

My Spez lock-on grips have also arrived and thrown on the Rapide bar. I still think I can save some weight somewhere, perhaps by getting rid of the horrendous Suntour XCM that doesn't really suspension much. Unfortunately the Scale 940 has a straight steerer.

I still have an 80mm stem, that needs to go as well, but first, I need a new saddle

I'm not sure where the seriousness ended and the trolling started. Are you removing the front brake ?

Was thinking this weekend while riding about what could be dropped to win on the weight thingy, assuming some have been covered by others, are you only looking at the bike or also add-ons?

Was wondering about :

- shoes / cleats vs flats

- Shortening the seatpost (still to a point where it is safe of course)

- Titanium bolts

- play around with different chain brands and go for the shortest chain possible on your setup

- Do away with the chain stay protector

- Shorten the stem so you don't need the spacers (or replace them with Carbon spacers)

- Moving any tool boxes on the bike to your back packs, thus moving from dead weight on the bike onto your body (could even consider putting your water bottle in the middle pocket on your back)
