Thornman Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 After my epic fail with my Mavic Cosmic Ultimates its time for new wheels. Don't want to get Mavic's again. Here is my two options: Zipp 404 Firecrest 2019 model or the Bora One 50's. Can get both for the same price. Which one will you buy and why?

Freewheel body is easier to service.More spokes. IF......and that is a big IF......if one spoke goes at the back you can still keep going. With the G3 spoke design on the Bora you can't. Braking on the 404 NSW is better than on the Bora.Also....more brake pad options.Bora you need Campy padsZipps you can have Zipp cork, Zipp tangenite or Swissstop Black price. All aproved by Zipp.
Tristand Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Tough is very important when evaluating wheel choices in SA, more so than light.Go for the Zipp's, they are incredibly tough and Campag is a problem when it comes to spares.
Spirog Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Neither...Fulcrum Racing Zero - with ceramic bearings I've yet to have anybody roll faster than me down the hills. Made by Campy, but at a better (?) price and it doesn't look weird with a Shimano group set.

R2500 per wheel when you replace those bearings.Been there....done that......R1350 if you can get a good deal and al and al. Almost R3k for the two wheels. It hurts.
Dicky DQ Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 As long as they are round any one will do. Square or hexagonal ones are a bitch.
