DJR Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Of course I'm not taking part in the challenge, but just wanted to drop a note that I'M BACK and commuting again after nearly 8 months or recovery since my crash. I'm not riding every day, but I get a few days a week in and it is fantastic. I'm enjoying it so much that I've decided to not even complain about the Southeaster.......let's see how long I can keep that promise?!
wildwindfr Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Not been commuting this week. Got a bit of a flu at the moment and we have finally had some good rain this week in Polokwane.Very happy about the rain, desperately needed.
Long Wheel Base Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 whereabouts will you be staying?Same place as ouzo, Fish Hoek Seaside cottages. As a family we been doing the argus for 31 years and have stayed there since the first time in 1989. I actually think they still have my Dad's deposit from then as he just used to tell them to keep it till next year. When we check out every year we just book the same week for the following year.
Long Wheel Base Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 So it looks like I might not be able to commute tomorrow. No ways I am willing to risk riding to work while this is happening. Will much rather be in the bakkie if the k@k hits the fan.
Rouxenator Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 My son reckons though ... “What doesn’t kill you, ... hurts!!!”Will have to agree with him today What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. What does kill you, makes you twice as strong - Dom Mazzetti, BroScienceLife I suffered a bit to work today and yesterday realised that because my after noon commute is more than double as long as the morning one, I still get wind
Long Wheel Base Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 +1Flights sortedCottage 19 bookedThe cottage we have had for the last few years has apparently been sold and is now occupied permanently. So we will be in another one, I am not sure which one though.
KingZam Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Not been commuting this week. Got a bit of a flu at the moment and we have finally had some good rain this week in Polokwane.Very happy about the rain, desperately needed.Hope you get well soon and back on the saddle in no time
wildwindfr Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Thanks. Feeling better, maybe will try and ride tomorrow. The road is also one big mudpool at the moment. Not complaining as we needed this rain.
cat-i Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Hope you get well soon and back on the saddle in no time Approaching 6000 - maybe this afternoon?
Hairy Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Can we do a big push to reach the 100K mark for the group this year still?
KingZam Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Approaching 6000 - maybe this afternoon?I had hoped so, however the planned route will be short to get me there
Imploder Posted November 14, 2019 Author Posted November 14, 2019 Congrats Imploder on 5000 Thanks Cat!
Albatross Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Can we do a big push to reach the 100K mark for the group this year still?
Rouxenator Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Realistically speaking we only have 46 days left of the year (and decade - let that sink in). Of those days it is only 23 work days left for me. So at best I'll be adding 800km, maybe less.
Hairy Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Technically I have 20 x working days till I go on leave
