Rude wake up at around 3 this morning I think it was, when those two decided to take off straight overhead

A lot of people from the East Rand complaining about this early morning wake up call. If it was them, I wonder why they were at ORT?

Just caught a very nice glimpse of a Gripen (at least I think that was a Gripen). One plus of staying on the edge of the AFB NFZ (or so the drone apps tells me...

 

 

 

Hope to see the Russian crafts again. Or at least that my wife can hear and feel the craft passing over

The runway. ORT has 03L/R and 21L/R. 03 heads out over pomona/kempton side and 21 heads out over wild waters/boksburg side.

03L and 21R is the long runway closer to the terminal and preferred runway for takeoff.

Your location says glen marais so you pretty much below 03L.

Yeah, shook my house and made the windows rattle as if the thing was in my driveway.

 

And I’m far enough from ORT that I seldom get bothered by the normal noises.

look as much as it annoyed me at the time, it’s not a regular occurrence so I’m not too p’d off about it.

It's not an issue

All pretty funny.I grew up in the flight path to Youngsfield in the Cape and there was a daily procession of Harvards,Shackeltons,Vampires and Daks then Mirages over our house so love the sound

Sound travels much further at that time of the morning, They probably chose it on purpose to show off............

Man, I still recall many, many years ago when they were at Waterkloof. The noise that thing made was just unbelievable.

 

And also, when we walked up (I must have been like 10 at the time), this American in a full on Texan accent looked at me and said, "It's a B1-B, it's bohmer". Loved it.
