My guess is threefold, and its subject to correction.

1. Minimum 4 hours hard practice every single day. (research on you tube) they sit at a boardroom table prior to flying and the air boss (number1) literally sings them through every maneuver. They sit eyes closed and listen to him, listen to his voice and visualize the flight until they dream it every day. Then they do it again and again and again.

2. The jets are not light weight and are at 300 kts + so turbulence while still there is potentially less affecting that for example a LSA plane

3. Since they are in such tight formation I would guess that the airplanes are all hit by the same air at literally the same time. Imagine a group of surfers waiting for a wave. As the swells pass they all rise and fall in unison. ?? that's a guess though

Points 2 and 3 I do stand to be corrected on.. Just my guess.

Oh and lastly - when in that formation. the okes flying 2,3,and 4 (in the diamond) are not looking at where they are going. They are looking at one thing and one thing only, his "wingmans wing" keeping that separation is critical and is the separation is okay - he will be.. focus on the wing :)

No one noticed which airforce owns this $65 MILLION machine, look closely at country flag or the top of the fuselage near the front door

Took these when Obama was in Cape Town back in the day...

Airforce One - tail number 29000

Obama's chopper detachment - they continually flew a formation where they altered position, to confuse any observer as to which chopper POTUS is on.

Marine One - well one of them at least

I remember being at a hockey tournament in Wineberg when he was there, had them fly over the field a few times during the week.

You've heard of the copper belt in Zambia right ?? There is about a 99.999% chance that the Chinese paid for it directly or indirectly - they've pretty much moved in in a paid for (and ravaged) everything else. Whats a 65Bar jet between friends... ?? :)

Not the first time, I’ve seen an even bigger fancy jet gifted by the Chinese to their Portuguese speaking neighbours

I stay up in the Blouberg area, and not a week goes by that a SAAF Oryx flies from Ysterplaat to Langebaan and back within the hour, directly overhead. Usually, it then does a loop around the area I live, before bolting off on it's route, either going or coming.

I suspect it might have something to do with Koeberg being restricted airspace, but I am not sure. Still, quite good to watch that noisy whirlybird come and go. This morning, a Westland Lynx made a pass.

Every now and then, a C130 on approach to Ysterplaat passes overhead, and less frequently, one of the supposed SAAF Falcon jets that, according to the news and ANC, are unserviceable to the extent that they are flying death traps for any VVIP to board, hence the SAAF spending copious amounts to lease private aircraft from dubious and shady Guptas ...
