You have an adorable little girl, Pants Boy. Glad she is okay, and may she never lose her beautiful smile because of some numb-skulled idiots.

Now, as for the driver racing away. Seeing she is 18 as you say, I am wondering if seeing that after realising she knocked your girl, she got a moerse skrik, and did a runner. Dad did what any protective dad of an 18 yo would do, and try keep his girl out of jail.

I am NOT condoning what happened, in any way, and insist justice is applied, but I am trying to understand the displayed behavioral patterns.

My initial thoughts as well, and I'd be sympathetic to that, but then she lied right in front of the cops to my face about stopping and helping.

There's just NO accountability, just fear of prosecution.

And I would put money on the fact the perp was fiddling her cellphone while driving...and this ended up with your little one under her car's wheels...

I get so mad when I see MORONS with cellphones driving a car. On the N7 in Cape Town last week, I passed a bakkie in the left lane. He was furiously typing on his mobile, while looking at the screen. He was going 80kph+, and his passenger was holding the wheel...There was a bus about 100m ahead of him.

I can barely contain myself reading your account. Well done for doing just that at the scene.

Hope your baby girl heals up perfectly in no time and that justice is served on this one.

Fits the demographic really well ... but no confirmation (or speculation on that from our side). To keep it simple it's failing to stop at a stop sign, causing and accident and fleeing the scene of an accident.

I am witness to this every morning. To gather the evidence I have to join them which I refuse to do.

So how to stop this stupid behaviour?

I was thinking an old beat-up clapper with a solid full-frontal bull-bar. use it to gently "persuade" them to stop their shee-aait...

[edit] - Have a dash-cam and go-pro rigged to catch them in the act prior to persuasion being applied.

I want this to enforce road rules (oxymoron I know) on taxis.

For phones I enjoy calling out/hooting at people in traffic if the opportunity presents. Most people know they shouldn't be doing it, they just need a little reminder.

I feel theres little else one can personally do.
