Exact same situation happened to a group of us on the Brokhorstspruit road one morning. One of my then teammates aimed his bottle at the oncoming BMW's windscreen and the nice part is the his bottle was still frozen.

BMW needed new windscreen and a new tyre which he cut when he left the road.

Net my opinie.

...the damage a 1 litre bottle can do to a car.

I was cycling this afternoon and about 15 minutes into my ride I wanted to take a sip of my energy drink. Just as I got the bottle out' date=' I noticed two cars approaching. Decided to wait for the cars to pass before having a drink. As the cars came close to me the idiot in the second car decided he will pass the first despite seeing me approaching and it was a pretty narrow road.

Well I had to take evasive action and I still had this full bottle in my hand. Decide swirf out of the way and had to let go of my beloved bottle. I did however make sure the bottle would be left hanging in the air at a strategic position (was sort of aiming for the wind shield). As I went bundu bashing there was one hell of impact sound. The car lost his side mirror completely. Just glad it was not me who hit that mirror.

from the topic I though you were going to say ..." the predictability of stupidity", but in this case it seems to be the same thing, just glad you OK

Well done indeed - It's beyond my understanding what kind of people "live among us" in our society - Commuting to work supposed to be an experience thro' winter -

Yesterday I could not 4 the life of me understand the mentality behind the thinking of a taxi driver - yet his passengers R 2 eager to be in agreement with his actions - i.e Cutting not only me off that's on a bike but a number of cars at an intersection yet its green lites for us to proceed. People hooted / I raised my hands & all in vain true & "they" swear at us.

I usually call a spade a spade & when they looked at me I pointed at my temple saying "U dumb D%&kies" - eishhhh I had to put foot & pedal for life & limb - no want Xenophobia upon a cycleeeest !!

There is the problem right there, Taxi drivers do not think of anything besides getting from A to B in a short a time as possible, sure there will be collatoral damage but do you think that they care?

THe irony was that he stopped to see if he can "retrieve" his mirror.  There was nothing to pickup but a few hundred pieces of plastic and glass.  So I asked him what happened to the part of waiting for oncomming traffic to pass before you pass a vehicle.  His response was that there was enough space.  So I asked him then where is his mirror.  There was just silence.

bateleur i love the way you handled it - the comment afterwards. there are just too many dumn ***** out there with this attitude and hopefully there is now one less. he might just stop and think in future whether there really IS enough space.

I love my frozen bottles in summer. Quite a bit harder then the car's of todays plastic lights. Works aout to about R2 000 - R5 000 damage.

just thought of something: bottle is british slang for courage, nerve, initiativeBig%20smile

Fester, yes, many do overreact, but self defence is self defence. it's not as if he deliberately took the bottle out to throw it - he needed to get rid of it so he could take control of his bike and under those circumstances i believe whole heartedly that he had every right to throw it between himself and the vehicle that the driver was aiming at him. i also believe that unless we all start pointing out when idjuts make mistakes and what those mistakes are, said idjuts will not ever realise what they are doing wrong. and if it is intentional then said idjuts need to learnt hat it will not be tolerated.
