JMBC Posted April 16, 2019 Share Where does it start and where is best place to park? You can always start from Bidon Bistro, lots of parking. As it is a loop you can start from different places along the loop.
Bonus Posted April 16, 2019 Share Nice video. I used to ride the Cradle MTB trail from the Rhino & Lion car park when it was first started. I would ride up to the Kloofzicht roundabout on the road and then come back down on the dirt, then continue on the dirt back past the R&L Park until I got to the end of Beyers, then I'd come back on the road. Watching now, three years after we left SA, and I recognise so much - the trail itself, even the crash barriers and tunnel, the hills in the background . . . man, now I'm feeling homesick! MariusC Posted April 16, 2019 Share I really want to go try this out this weekend. I will be cycle alone so need to know if the route is clearly marked?
Jehosefat Posted April 16, 2019 Share I really want to go try this out this weekend. I will be cycle alone so need to know if the route is clearly marked? It's basically entirely in the road reserve so you can't get lost. Worst case you can just ride on the road a bit until you see the trail again. Just note that it is a one-way trail in a clockwise direction but other than that you can't really go wrong. nonky, MariusC and Bonus

m-squared Posted April 16, 2019 Share Great Thanks.any idea of the approximate distance and ascent? About 28km and 214m elevation according to my Strava. Whoops... see now that was only part of the loop. Will look for the full loop now. Edited April 16, 2019 by m-squared

Ozzie NL Posted April 16, 2019 Share And once you have flipped around the main trail a couple of times, there are tons of additional trails to explore around the cradle. Just keep an eye out for guys riding and ask them about them (Woesrand MTB is pretty good) coppi

Ozzie NL Posted July 21, 2019 Share Appears someone is deliberately spiking the route.Frm what I understand this was not what n the main cradle loop but on the trail from top circle to chicken pie Andrew Steer, scotty and RocknRolla
RocknRolla Posted July 21, 2019 Share Wife showed me these pics as well. It's in the tracks in the veld on the way to the Maggies farm (home of the chicken pie). There is a house just above halfway down, and from the pics it seems to be behind that house.Could be traps to create an easy target. Could also be an irate resident, tired of peeps traversing private land. Pure speculation at this stage.Fact is, it's concerning, as I have used these trails on my ace, and so has the missus. Bonus Posted July 21, 2019 Share I think I'd stick to the main Cradle Route if I was still cycling there . . .
