Epic Evo Comp vs Epic Comp

If we were talking top of the range suspension platforms yes I’d agree. But we’re talking about two stock bikes fitted with Rock Shox Reba RL 100 and 120 respectively. There is going to be almost no difference in pedaling efficiency.both forks can be tuned with volume reducers to achieve similar feeling. The one will just have 20mm more usable travel positive and negative combined. It’s still going to a pick you’re line through the challenging stuff and work it kinda of bike.

If you’re advocating a playful fun bikebthat can be raced occasionally then it’s a proper light short travel trail bike which is a stumpy trance fuel ex kinda bike which allows a more barrel through with your eyes closed approach.

So I’m a bit confused with how you’re chasing your tail. Hence is rather buy the cheaper bike and spend the extra money on upgrades that makes a bigger difference. Like maybe playing with less offset to get the wheelbase longer

I reckon it's time for us to agree to disagree here.

I like to talk big about going rigid but when the rocks get rough I'm more than happy enduroing my 16kg 170/180 travel lazy boy down the trail. There ain't no substitute for wheel travel when it gets lumpy and bumpy...

YUP!!!

Based on that I'd not buy this bike. The brain sounds awful in the rough stuff Stumpy ST would be a better bet..

Agreed. But of the two, definitely the Evo.

It's a tough call...

Right now in the mountain bike market there are split opinions, where riders want a capable XC bike with a bit more of an edge on descents. That's where the EVO fills the market.

Top end of the racing scene - Epic

Fun Factor - EVO

if more people rode slightly slacker more forgiving bikes there would be way less broken bodies from OTB excursions especially in the middle aged MAMIL category

really ??!! Can the reviewer actually make up his mind? the review is as confused as the bike. Seriously its only hype that sells a longer travel XCO bike as "trail". Its still an XCO bike with a longer fork. Why not just  through a 140 on it and run it with more sag?

Better still why don't they just lock out the rear and call it a trail hardtail?

Not the best site/magazine when it comes to reviews. Reviews are always the same in that they always expect the damn thing to be more #enduro regardless if it's an over-forked xc bike, or short travel trail bike.

Well it is #enduromtb.com or something. I think there should be a site called "dirt roadie.com" where they only touch 100mm travel or less bikes and the reviewers only ever wear spandex.

So I was considering the same Specialized options along with Momsen Vipa Trail 2 and Scott Spark 30.

Let me say that Travis at Complete Cyclist Bryanston is brilliant.

Waited for Momsen demo as the previous demo was sold, only to be told on day of arrival that they are rather selling it to a friend of the owner of Momsen.

After all your input and research I agree that I needed a less XO bike, and the Scott Spark with 1X12 2018 R37900.00 from Bike Addict with awesome service was the best in my opinion.
