is it just me, or are these "specials" not really so special? I have been monitoring these specials getting blasted at us from all sides, but I am of the opinion that the prices are not different from when there is no promo running.

One glaring example is the Marvel T-2 workshop stand. It has been around the R490.00 for at least the last 2 years now. This I know, as every now and then I get the urge to buy one, but I'll be darned if I am expected to believe I am buying a "bargain"...even at R500 odd.

How about respecting the level of intelligence out there, and stop trying to BS the customers with purported promotions. I get the need to sell, but if it ain't a special, stop calling it one.

You pretty spot on Robbie. I did find there are some specials in between if you aware of the price over the last 2 months.

 

What irritates me the most is when they increase the RRP and make it sound like you saving 60%. Just be honest, I'm cool with a 20%-30% saving on the normal price

 

My example . I bought a maxis ikon for R399 at the knysna Cycle Tour. It was on special for R439 on black Friday

Bought mine 2 maybe 3 years ago, back when they still had the quick release .... also paid R450 on special.

 

 

Then again, let's be fair, the Sunrace 11 speed 11-46 have been North of R1000 for a while, so the price IS better than what I paid for the last two which I bought (at other stores).

 

 

the odd good price .... and then the regular prices .... BUYER KNOW YOUR PRICES !!  

 

 

EDIT - was at CWC today and had a look at the workshop stand ... the one on display actually has the quick release.  (the photo in the add shows the screw type clamp)

GOOD ... to wash the bike ....

 

 

too wobbly to properly service a bike on ....

 

 

then again, R450 vs R3k for a proper Parktool stand .... guess you get what you pay for ....

I have not had any issues with it, I have built a few bikes on it in the past and find it to work fine. I do not use it a lot. Mine also still have the silver QR lever
