come on ... surely you can change the clutch given you work background ....

Yeah I can and have done plenty before but It is a time consuming job(on bigger cars with longitudinal engines) and ideally not a 1 person job. My Dad would usually have helped me but he left this morning for your side of town and is only back after the road race. I have all the tools and equipment at my folks place to do an easier clutch replacement. My bakkie is 4x4 and the gearbox and transfer box for the front diff need to both come out as one unit. It is a massive unit to come out. I would have made a plan with 2 trolley jacks but ideally you need a table lift of sorts. My cousins hubby has a merc service centre but they do other cars as well for some clients. It's there at the moment, he is getting some quotes on upgraded clutches for me. I'll get him to do it with a family discount but looking at prices this morning and it seems I am in for around R6k just for a clutch and that is just a stock replacement. The upgraded ones can be double that!!

Ja hey ... all I understood from that is that your old man is in CT for the Argus ... and if he needs to find any decent coffee shops I can assist him.

Ice cream at the take away place on fish hoek beach always goes down well.

Just make sure you eat it before you leave to walk down the beach back to teh cottages, otherwise the wind will melt it quicker than you can eat it.

Reasons why I hate driving to work...................

Had a rough night, woke up late, was still going to commute but then realised I had forgotten to charge my Garmin last night. Then the wife asked If I could go to the shops after work. Decided to take the bakkie. Battery was almost flat but it started. Not even 1km from the house the clutch started slipping. Clutch is stuffed. Manged to drive it home without damaging it any more. Went to the folks house and borrowed my Mom's car as they left this morning for Cape Town so its free for 2 weeks. Done some googling and they reckon navaras chow clutches six love and it is a big job to change so labour is high. Then I saw some prices of the actual clutch and almost cried.

  :nuke:  ... you missed a commute because your Garmin battery was flat .....

I think an intervention is necessary ....  commuters don't stop riding when the GPS battery dies !!!!

But if it’s not on Strava did you even ride?

Can't argue with this, but you can an always record manually on strava app or do a manual route entry on Endo...

This happened to me last week and so I recorded via strava app then realised afterwards that endo connects via Garmin app, so just entered mileage manually in Endo

:D  :D  ;) . I use it to navigate my way to work. I try block the place from my memory so I forget each day where it is. I have also become very reliant on the varia and feel vulnerable without it. Full of excuses!!!
