@HairyI think 120mm.

You sure .. she looks longer than that?

I am curious as I have been eyeing out the 140mm travel fork on my YT and wondering what that would be like my STR

Been riding mine with a 140 Fox 34 and it’s perfect, would not want any less.

Gears ..... too steep where I do most of my riding, even a 32 x 42 leaves me wanting more on one of the climbs

All I read was that you said you have gotten old and slow

just like me

Presenting the wife's' new steed. It started with a need for shorter cranks on her existing bike, and kind of snowballed from there. After much looking around and seeing what was available at not too steep a price, eventually built up an STF with 650b wheels. I  know: that's sacrilege! Still, it kept the geometry very similar to the current bike, but just moved the front wheel further forward, essentially dropping from a 90mm to 50mm stem. A not inconsequential change.  The result is a setup that she is much happier with and produced some unexpected responses. Apparently it "feels lighter to climb" and "is much easier to roll over stuff". The roll over is not unexpected, moving up from 26" wheels and older geometry. All in all a successful experiment, despite a minor OTB at the end of the day.

A lot of bits were existing things lying about.

PS: To give credit where it's due: the first frame delivered had an issue, and Momsen sorted it out without problem or fuss. You don't often find that sort of service, and it bears mentioning. Good on them

Great bikes these, really enjoyed mine.

The Grey fade on this frame is nice!

Not the lightest bike but climbed very well and felt very light.

My STF build . Have a farmer customer who wanted a steel bike . All I could get was a Momsen STF frame . He want 1X and 160mm front travel . I liked the frame so much I ordered one for myself and put this together . M frame ,Lauf Grit fork, Brooks Cambium saddle,Jones Bar, Shimano 2 x 11 .Wheels are 700C but decided to go for comfort and have 29x2.25 on . Eggbeater pedals . It is amazingly comfortable . Beautiful Bike, but so many gears 😀.

There is a reason for those sliding drop outs.

Thanks!
I personally don't see the point of a singlespeed mtb. Sliding dropouts does not force you to go singlespeed, just provides you with the option. So I might one day see your side of things and then switch, easy peasy. :)

How do you guys keep your bikes so pristine and chip free? all my bikes have chips, dings and nicks in the first month and they just keep getting more and more. Stone chips from riding where MTB's should be ridden. Do these bikes ever go proper offroad?
