it depends....

what is the degree of wear? (depth, of scoring)

How extensive is the wear? (in one small location or in many places?

can you post pics to assist with focusing opinions?

I have a rockshox reba with stancion wear on my 29er HT training bike, I replace the foam rings about every 3 months with a proper service once a year. Best performing fork I have.

Most up end fork lowers are made of magnesium, not sure if it can be properly anodized

I've had great success with sending lowers to professionals who paint them with automotive paint and clear coat

But I've seen lowers done with rattle can that would be very hard to point out next to the professionaly done one

***I have e never paintedy own fork lowers, too scared

What this has to do with this thread and the OP question, or any of the other comments, I have no idea ????????

The stanchion coating on my 2012 fox float has eventually started to go around the one seal. My Lbs told me that the guys from RBC are able to fit new ND Tuned stanchions into the uppers, just as madmarc had mentioned. Looking at about R4k including a service apparently. For now, I am just going down the route of servicing more often until I can decide on new stanchions or a new fork.

Stanchions can be replaced, not repaired, and you'll need to replace bushings at the same time.

Fox and Manitou sell bushings as a separate part, Rockshox you'll have to buy a complete lower leg assembly which makes the exercise pointless for most of their forks.

There will be people who will tell you it can be repaired with nail varnish or recoated - don't believe them. There is nothing that will work to replace the factory anodising.

I need some advise please I have a disappointing 2019 Rock Shox Sektor RL 29 Boost 150 mm, it seems lifeless and when it bottoms out make a stodgy noise. ( not sure it’s the shock or plastic mudguard )

Can this be upgraded I see a few new upgrades for Debonair and lyric but not sure about this shock.

What can I do to improve this shox when I send it into have a full service ?

Thank you.

not much

The sektor is A very basic fork

I'd recommend looking for A fox 34 , the grip damper version should be cheaper and easier to find and it'll transform your bike

Regular maintenance is the best way to get the most from your sektor but unfortunately it doesn't have much to offer
