Shim for carbon bars

Has anyone here used a shim for Carbon bars?

 

Currently have a set of bars with a narrow diameter and have seen you can get a shim to increase it to a 31.8mm diameter (which is what I need for my new stem).

I have done it on my MTB, bars are 31.8 and stem is 35, made some shims up and it has been fine so far

To be fair tho, used bars are so plentiful and cheap, youll probably be able to just pick some appropriate ones up for free... Check the classifieds, I'm sure you can also go wider and enjoy more stability too... A shim just sounds like an unnecessary risk, to be honest.

After some thought this weekend I'm going to get a new set of bars to go with the stem.

Don't want that little bit of niggle while turning into a high speed corner.

Go for it. And bonus that alcohol sales are allowed again, so you can get cans for shim stock.
