Maiden Voyage.

I had been wanting a gravel bike originally for some bikepacking, ended up getting sidetracked and accidentally built a MTB.

Loving this frame and build, feels very solid and surprisingly, lighter than expected, 15.6kg (nothing mounted on the bike).

50t helps with the climbing, but you are awear of the long, slack geo. I dont cut my toenails so I need all the sapce I can get between the pedals and front tire😅🤣

It just eats up the trail when pointed downhill, felt really comfortable and therefore confident. Super fun bike

I wouldn't want any of those sub 10kg twigs for mountain biking purposes. Not even for free. At least not for having fun on.

“Best for climbing performance”. Ok. Fine, if thats your vibe. There are better tools for everything else.

Most of the people commenting here almost definitely exceed the rider weight limit on those pieces of chewing gum anyway....

Hello guys, I want to share my new build with my old Rapide frame. I resprayed the frame and added new logos. I then built a rigid fork for it, made all the thru axle fittings and a disc brake mount. This fork was a test to see if will be a viable option as the chromo forks that one can buy on the market is too expensive. Version 2 of the new fork with thicker tubing is in the works. Hope you all like what I did with the paint scheme.

Not one steel frame on that list. If I wanted Light I could have bought it for the same price of this build. But I wanted a durable-fun-machine. Not everyone wants or needs a lightweight XC bike for racing. I wanted something to beat around

I suppose It's Horses for Courses. I'm not fit enough to ride the Rapide When Climbing Long Steep Climbs. Light Bikes Works fine for Me. I hope the Rapide works for you for everything you need it for.

Many Miles of Smiles.

That paintjob is so awesome👌

Great job on the forks too. Definitely would be interested in a set, especially if you can put bosses on them

First things first.

This thread has been an absolute inspiration. I inhaled all 25 pages in one sitting.

A little backstory.

I have been looking at the Tigre for maybe the past three years. Dreaming, crying, screaming to get back on a bicycle and amongst the trees in an attempt to relive the memories of the simpler times of my life. Unable to justify the outlay of not only the frame, but the entire build, on a trip down memory lane.

Fast forward to two weeks ago.

I get the moer in, go sign up for the Karkloof membership, pull my old GT Avalanche out the depths of the workshop, seized Rockshox Dart et al, and set out looking like an X Games competitor circa 2009.

I'm close to death 100m from my gate.

I'm actually dead 300m up Currys Post Rd.

I embrace it and enter the forest network, no longer dreaming, just crying and screaming, maybe a little vomiting. Grinning like an idiot.

Post a multiple day recovery, I climb onto the Rapide website, the Tigre is on special. My wife comes running into the office to find out what all the squealing is about. She assists me, as at this point I might just order two frames out of shear excitement. After much convincing I concede, she does not also need one, for now at least.

I make payment, and wait...

Second things second.

Wayne and his team are an absolute pleasure to deal with, and it was a huge relief to see they utilize Courier Guy. I was kept up to date the entire time and followed up with post delivery.

I could not recommend purchasing from Rapide enough. Big up to them.

Thirdly.

My frame arrived last week Monday and I have been staring at it all week, my gaze shifting only to these here Classifieds. Forks, Wheels, Cranksets, the options are endless.

My thinking is low investment, high grin factor.

Which leads me to the point of this post.

Does anyone have a Pitchfork laying around they'd be happy to exchange for a hand full of Buffaloes? Keen to keep it Home Grown.
