Rode at Jonkershoek today - 40° all the way up to Armageddon 8 and FireHut. Should help me acclimatize somewhat :D

Yeah, the heat, especially in the last third of the event when the earlier shade of the mountains are no longer, is another challenge.

Congrats to each person who got a nat-lappie around his / her neck at the end. That was just another tough day at the Imbuko Big 5 office !!   Yikes, you think by now you'd come to grips with the challenge, but one can not argue against the maths :  close to 3000m elevation in a mere 70kms, is always gonna tingle a bit.

Great event  and kudos to the organizers - as always and happy to have spotted a number of regular faces out there !

All things go well, I'll line up in 2023 again !

Aha! I think I've found the Canetsfontein climb. Its not on Strava segments, Trailforks etc.
Only visible on the Global heatmap:

It's at the top of the Obiekwa climb (which is already flipping high) ... I have no idea how you'd get down tho 😝 the map only shows a 1-way up

I already struggled on tight uphill switchbacks when I was riding my MTB a lot, now you'd better not be behind me when I attempt this climb
