The amount of times I reuse mine...

Yeah I figured I was maybe being a little dramatic about the whole thing, but also a week before race day, I would prefer the peace of mind..😉🤙🏻

*Is this too many spares for Race Day.?!*

First time riding full 947 or any other race. Have done 100km before and this is what I’m carrying with me on those rides, and my general rides..

under my saddle(rapstrap): spare tube, tyre levers, CO2 canister..

Top tube bag(yes I like top tube bags, they work for me but I understand they are apparently made fun of🤣🤣): spare tube, CO2 canister, CO2 nozzle, Multitool..

And I like the top tube bag cos I can prop up an open pack of jelly babies in between the open zip and really easily grab a couple whenever I feel like it..

cable ties taped to back of seat stays..

But is this too much for RACE DAY and should I lose the top tube bag leaving only spares for one tube change if needed..?😳🤔

For any race, I o up carry one tube, a bomb & valve, plus 1 tyre lever; then add phone and some gels, plus car keys (if I’m driving).

There are so many people that can potentially help, so carrying the kitchen sink isn’t necessary. I’ve been helped by, and helped, people over the years, which makes this event a little more special compared to other events.

I ask because I feel like it’s overkill for a race(even though I am extremely amateur)..

thanks so much mate..💪🏼😃🤙🏻

Although I run Tubeless, carry a spare tube (been burnt before), a bomb and multitool.

As Frosty said, lots of assistance on route and others willing to lend a hand (that is if they are not going for a PB or Strava Segment🤣)

Bro I’ve gone to running tubes.. had more blow outs that couldn’t be plugged riding on the road than when I was on a mountain bike tubeless.. bored of buying new tires..😰

so much glass on the roads😡

R900 tire < R70 tube..

you're using the wrong tyres and/or not being careful enough.

but,..............    if tubes are working for you then carry on. Use what works for you and what makes you ride more.

You are absolutely right about not being careful enough.. but, Hutchinson override, panaracer gravel king..? Maybe cos they actually gravel tyres🤷🏼‍♂️ I don’t know🤣 I was under the impression they were decent.. now WTB with tubes and a little more careful 🤘🏻🤣🤣.. I’ve had no problems..

Another top-tube user

I have spectated at the DC, well drove part of the route and took a ton of photos.  Stopped to help many riders, most fixing flats.  Surprising how many managed to pinch new tube with the adrenaline pumping and the rush to get back on the road ...

Many got stuck and had to ask other riders for a spare tube as a result.

If the day goes sideways ... BREATH .... relax ..... and fix it calmly !!

If you are used to riding with a couple of spare tubes ... why risk it to save a few grams ....

there are a lot of mistakes with their admin

I’ve just been trying to search if we have to book to go get our race numbers at the expo again like last year(I’d had my mtb about a month, did the short ride) and the booking thing is still on 2022.. but no communication to suggest we don’t have to book a slot this year.?
