In all seriousness, last year's route with this year's added distance.
S = the point where timing started
F = new finish

Only 1.2Km longer. With the extra roll out under the Soweto Highway, it might be closer to 97Km, maybe a dyslexic race distance of 97.4Km.

I've measure just over 96km without the new addition

If I use the course that I got from someone last year, I get 9 Climbs but if I make a course of last year's ride I get 15 Climbs - ODD.

My course file shows 7.
I would imagine the missing ones are too short to be considered:

  • before Kyalami (900m @ 4.6%)
  • the mineshaft in Kyalami (500m @ 5.9%)
  • Drags of Douglasdale (2Km @ 2%)
  • Braamfontein (1.2Km @ 2.5%)

There are a few other short bumps on the M1 (after Jan Smuts and Grayston offramps). I don't have those showing on Strava, so not sure about their details).

*chilling at home on a Saturday a week before 947 with not a lot to do:

-decided to remove and deep clean chain

-YouTube’s how to remove quick link without the tool

-removed chain

-soaked chain in clean green and boiling water a bunch of times(amazed at how much crap came out of chain..) I clean my chain with degreaser and a toothbrush very thoroughly pretty much weekly..

-put chain back and reattach quick link

STANDS BACK AND ADMIRES WORK.      💪🏼🥳🤘🏻

Casually doing some more reading and  research, read that quick links are not reusable and my chain has a much higher chance of breaking..!!😳😳

Races to bike shop for the correct tool and replacement quick link.!!🤣🤣🤣

Why do I do this sh$t.?!🙄🤣
