I will be there, but for the 70.3. Deferred Durban now in October 2022 to PE next year due to sea e-coli and shin splints. Hope all goes well for March 2023.

One and done for me. Each to their own but I don't see the benefit in entering year after year.

Add in accommodation  and flights from the North and it adds up unpleasantly. This will probably be my last event in SA. However we are using the opportunity to bring family up to the event and make a 2 week holiday out of it all.

Is there anyone here from Durban? I will be in Durban from 19 Feb and would like to meetup for some long rides before heading down to PE on 1 March.

Hi Scott, I’m not doing the event and I live about 70km outside of Durban, but if you don’t come right, give me a call and I could help out. I’m from a farming area called Eston.

Close to R5000 for the half, I heard, could be I heard wrong.

My friend's third full Ironman.  She placed in the top third overall in the Mosselbay half event.

 

Hoping she does well tomorrow

Entry fees here for Ironman events are pretty steep too. About 300 for a half and 600 for a full. Depends when you register on the tier system. Then add a diabolical 9 percent processing fee. ( which is pure daylight robbery in my opinion. 
 

eyeing 2025 to return to IMSA. Will be my 60th loop around the sun so something to aim for. 
 

yeah. Seems not much enthusiasm for IM this year on bike hub. Maybe a result of economic woes in the world. Or Ironman just does not hold the allure it once did.
