If Flückiger’s positive test is confirmed. Will Nino Schurter then have won 34 World Cups?

I definitely don't claim to know everything about everything.

But if you honestly think his bike is manufactured in Switzerland then I have some bad news for you about a bunny rabbit who brings chocolate once a year round about the time they do the 2 oceans marathon. Next week we can discuss that big guy with the red coat who travels by reindeer.

Enjoy your ride.

Whether gravel bike, racing bike, mountain bike or e-bike - all Thömus bikes have one thing in common: they are developed, designed and built in Switzerland exactly according to the wishes and needs of the customers. In this way, the individual anatomy of each person can be taken into account and this with the shortest possible delivery times - quite "Swiss made to fascinate".

I think by "built" they mean someone will put the groupset on the Taiwanese frame with their name on it. Will need a photo of Heidi laying up carbon to convince me otherwise.

Kind of like that German sticker on a Silverback seat stay, it doesn't mean much.

I'm not sure why this is such a difficult thing to accept. If Pyga can build high quality carbon and Alu frames at the bottom of Africa, I'm sure the Swiss can do it too.

Cool, of course it is possible, just unlikely. If you look on the interwebs you will see loads about Pyga and their production, (including the outsourced mobu.)

Not much on this brand, although I did find this (2018).

The new bike for the new season is from Thömus. The Swiss company has been in the bikes business for almost 30 years, starting as a bike shop it seems, and is said to have its own production in Switzerland, although it isn’t clear where this frame is manufactured. Founder Thomas Binggeli for a few years was CEO of BMC, before returning to Thomus in 2014.

I'm more than happy to be wrong here, but it is unlikely that they have in house carbon facility. That's not how the rest of the bike industry rolls. And there's nothing wrong with a frame built in Taiwan either.

In the case of Thömus bikes, I understand that originally he manufactured his own frames here in der Schweiz.

However, after reading this thread and checking out their website I'd agree with Shebeen, their wording is cleverly written to not indicate where the actual frames are manufactured, if the frames where actually produced in Switzerland for sure they would clearly mention that as a selling point.

"For 30 years, Thömus has stood for high-tech on the farm – high-quality bikes, developed, designed, built and maintained in Switzerland. To this end, we are always looking for experts and talents who are just as crazy about cycling as we are.

Their website currently advertises a position in Asia:

High-tech bikes, developed, designed and built in Switzerland: this is what Thömus has stood for since 1991. Competent, friendly and courteous customer service as well as first-class products are our success factors. No matter what we do, we do it "for the love of the bike". Does this also apply to you? Then you may soon be our Head of Asia in Product Management.

But then again... that could also cover the materials added to the frames, groupsets etc......

Totally agree, I believe the bikes are made in Asia. The first carbon frame to wear the Thomus name were open mould frames out of Asia. They have their own design now but I cannot see such a small company producing frames in Switzerland with all the emissions, waste management and farting regulations they have in Suisse

I think they mean Head of Product Management in Asia and that sort of role will be the link between all suppliers and marketing side of the business

Seems some folk got their load off a bit prematurely.

"Mathias Flückiger's doping ban has been lifted"

Well that is great news for Matthias and I have to apologise to him for inferring suspicious results. There was clearly other things at play with his lacklustre start to the season, probably related to training overload or..or...or..

I guess Nino will have to go and earn that extra win now
