Hey guys I've been riding MTB for the past 5-6 years and have only recently been riding longer distances 40-55km.

But now 17 year old me wants to ride the 94.7 🤣.

My question is if I can reasonably comfortably ride a 50km MTB race, with a 800m of climbing, and some really thought patches aswell as more than half the ride was in soft sand.

Now based on that would you say that I would be able to ride the 94.7 on a road bike... I don't mind a hard ride ....

I am actually 17 😂

yes. there are lots of things about riding a road bike on the road that will make it 'seem' easier than riding and MTB - rolling resistance is much lower, drafting at road speeds actually is a thing.

I say 'seem', because if you want to go faster, it will get harder. If you can get in a bunch, you won't be fighting wind resistance nearly as much as you would if you were on your own, so you can go way faster.

I'd say at your current fitness and barring any off days or calamities, you'll be fine. Good luck

You're 17. Unless you have some sort of a medical condition, you'll be fine.

Maybe slower than you'd like, but fine.

30 year old me did an Argus on a MTB with knobblies and no training and I didn't die.

A 14y old rode the Cycle Tour with us this year. 100km+ with 1300m ish climbing. He races XCO and raced the day before, he rode the same hardtail he raced on….wheelie’d and manual’d  half the route for the cameras and rode it under 4:30 (edit: in the wet)

His first time ever.

You’ll be fine.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I really would do it. But unfortunately my parents have just said no, I can do it next year. But not this year.

Anyways I'll just do the 45km Magalies Adventure in 2 weeks time 👌
